The Gift
Genesis 22

I held my dearest son within my heart
And pledged to nurture him throughout his life
With peace of mind that never would we part.

Imagine how my heart was filled with strife
When God commanded me to give to Him
This treasured gem that I shared with my wife.

I trusted that it wasn�t just a whim,
The promise of a nation borne from me,
So I obeyed, my heart filled to the brim.

Beyond the altar, caught within a tree,
I found a lamb, and it was then I knew
That God returned my precious one to me.

He later did what He asked me to do:
God gave His Son, a gift for me and you.

Sunshine for the Soul appears to be highly motivational. As I read this particular poem I began to reminisce. It would make a great additon to my inspirational book collection. Continue to inspire, Mildred
