Collaborative book release sees two new titles by Boston poetry icon Doug Holder

Somerville, Mass. (April 25) – Somerville independent press sunnyoutside will release No One Dies at the Au Bon Pain (ISBN 978-1-934513-00-2) by Boston author, publisher, and promoter Doug Holder on April 26. The date marks the two-year anniversary of Červená Barva Press, who that day will also release a collection by Holder entitled Of All the Meals I Had Before.

Holder will be a featured reader during the anniversary celebration, which will take place at McIntyre & Moore Booksellers (255 Elm Street, Davis Square, Somerville) at 7:30 p.m. Both new titles will be available and sold together at a discount. The event is free.

No One Dies at the Au Bon Pain will retail for $8 and will be available from the publisher (www.sunnyoutside.com), Amazon.com, and select bookstores. This first edition is printed on Wausau Royal Fiber and Fox River EverGreen papers and features cover artwork by acclaimed Lafayette, Indiana artist Ed Herrera.

Holder explains that the collection aims “to describe how it feels to be on the second half of the rollercoaster ride of life. Now at age 51 more of my life is behind me than ahead, and I want these poems to take note of and freeze the telling moments before they disappear into the ether, or before I do for that matter."

He adds that working with a press based in his hometown “is an added treat” and explains why he sought out a relationship with the sunnyoutside: “David McNamara, the founder, is a well-respected small press figure, and brings craft, meticulous attention to detail, and passion to publishing books.”

Holder is a co-founder of The Somerville News Writers Festival and is the curator of the Newton Free Library Poetry Series. His work has appeared in such magazines as Rattle, Doubletake, The Boston Globe Magazine, Poesy, Small Press Review, Artword Quarterly, Manifold (UK), The Café Review, the new renaissance, and many others. He holds an MA in Literature from Harvard University.
