"I need to see S-1 Mabu," Merari said.
The Clerk lifted an eyebrow. "S-1 Mabu does not see visitors," she said archly.
"He will see me," Merari said stubbornly. "Tell him my name is Merari. Tell him Sabian sent me."
The Clerk bristled at being given orders by a Surrogate but dropped in link. Her vision soon cleared. "You may go in," she said in obvious surprise. "Fourth doorspot on the right."
Merari nodded and stepped down the hall. Mabu was alone in his office, seated behind a huge desk. He looked menacingly at her as she entered. "I am very surprised to see you here," he growled. "Escapees from the Oster don't walk into Secure Headquarters everyday."
Merari fought against the almost uncontrollable urge to turn and run when she saw him. Her back ached with remembered pain. She swallowed hard and squared her shoulders to speak. "Then you must know that what I have to say is very important, or I certainly would not be here," she said, managing to look him in the eye.

Super salesman for Space Technologies, Aviv is traveling through space looking for new markets. Someday he will be very wealthy. When he experiences problems with his spaceship, he finds himself on the unknown planet of Marianthia.
As the green fungal floor of the planet begins to eat his ship, Aviv makes a run for it only to be confronted by Alien creatures. He is hunted by the terrorizing Secures who rule the police state with an iron fist. Finally rescued by Merari, a subordinate resident of Marianthia, the two flee. Merari is not one to take orders well and this causes her some problems with the ruling Secures. They eventually escape to Unity on the far side of the planet, but the terrorists attack. Will they survive? Will Merari make the right decision to save her class?
Merari is the first book in this series. Watch for more! Mari Atherton and her husband Bill are a writing team who prefer the paranormal and sci/fi genres. The author is also working on another series, which begins with The Dreamer’s Way.
