Ode To William Shakespeare

Mr. Shakespeare, I strive to reach your heights.
My soul so burns to bring such brilliant verse
to those spending their future days and nights
pursuing the spirit’s int’rests so diverse.

If only I could find the words so sweet
to then describe a love or flower’s scent
as you could make the perfect rhymes complete
would pay my true love such a compliment.

Alas, my words fall short of yours, great Bard
although my feelings lacerate as deep.
I shall fight on and struggle just as hard
To create art that makes them smile or weep.

I’ve dreamed your dreams and felt your agony.
Now only must I tear such words from me.
