Gideon let his thought drift off as he unlocked the door to his apartment and walked into the darkness. The only light was the slivers of from the street lamp outside his window that filtered through the crack of his blinds. He lived in this apartment for three years and navigated his way to the kitchen in the dark easily. And threw his keys on the counter and grabbed a beer from the fridge.
“Are you going to offer me one of those?” The voice came from a corner of the room where he knew he had his recliner. Gideon dropped the un-open beer and reached for his gun pointing it in the direction of the voice. With the other had he flicked the switch next to the wall flooding the apartment with light. She sat relaxing in his favorite chair as if she had nothing in the world to worry about.
“What the fuck! Lady you got some nerve breaking into my apartment.” Gideon felt his anger begin to simmer once again. She looked flawless, like he last time he saw her except now she was dressed black. Black leather pants with stiletto heels and a black top that was cut down to her wait and laced up so he could see her skin. A long black leather coat completed her out fit, she looked so appealing lounging in his chair with one of her legs thrown over the arm rest.
“I didn’t break into you’re apartment,” she replied looking around. “As little as it is. I came through the window.”
Her voice was sultry with a hint of an accent. Gideon felt is flow over him like thick honey tempting him to walk over and taste. He shook his head clearing the offending thought. “Yeah right…on the six floor with no fire escape. I should shoot you lady and I could. You are in my apartment.”

“Go ahead shoot, but then you won’t know why I was here.”
“You’ve got balls, maybe you are a guy you do pack a hell of a punch.” Gideon countered.
“Trust me I am no man. You’ll learn that soon enough.” Sola stood. “Are you going to point that gun at me all night?”
“I’m debating that point right now.” He said before sliding his gun back into his holster. “Why are you here?”
“You will have to quit your job and come with me, I have a mission and you are part of it.”
The simple way she said it made Gideon laugh. “Now I know you are crazy, Sola is it? Why would I quit my job and come with you just like that?”
He did not even have time to blink before she was standing in front of him. The speed in how she moved made her a blur and her hand was around his throat. Gideon watched as she smiled and from her gums her long incisors descending. Even as he watched, he didn’t believe it, he couldn’t believe it.
“Because Gideon Godspeed, I am going to give you a gift that no other woman could. Ready to listen to me now?” Sola asked.
Gideon could only nod and she slowly released her hold on his neck. He was going to need something more than the beer that dropped from his hand minutes earlier.
