An eerie darkness descends on the world and little house near a small rural cemetery where Karen sits on her bed watching the sunset, suddenly a movement below catches her eye and she glanced towards the cemetery only to gasp and pull back, when from among the dark shapes of the gravestones a lone figure detaches itself and steps out to stare directly up into the window where she sits. Instantly her hands fly up to cover her mouth, and stifle a scream building there, as she stumbles from the bed and almost falls to the floor in a faint.
The indescribable terror gripping her now is like a hand of ice squeezing her heart and making the blood pound wildly through her veins, this causing the heart to beat with unbearable pain against her ribs. Though all of this, and with barely enough light to see the figure standing by the cemetery wall, she is somehow able to clearly see his blood red eyes.

Less than three hundred yards from the little cape, in the darkness of the tomb at the rear of the cemetery, the faint morning light filters in through a small wedge shaped opening at the top of two old iron doors. In the gloom and stillness of the tomb sits a grave liner, its heavy lid pushed back to reveal an empty casket inside. Dampness hangs heavy in the morning light as tiny beads of moisture gather to form on the coffin's green tarnished hardware, then in the stillness they collect into drops and fall to the bottom of the grave-liner with a dull plunk, the sound reverberating through the stagnant air as each drop lands in a small pool of water that has gathered there.
Outside, in the predawn light, a large wolf hurries swiftly among the mist-shrouded shapes of the gravestones towards the tomb and at the foot of the iron door stops and glances around, while with small sparkles of light reflecting from the morning moisture caught up in its shaggy hair it begins to shake and change shape. In a matter of seconds its shape has changed to that of a large bat that flies up and enters into the tomb through the small-wedged shape hole there. Inside the the bats shape changes again to that of a tall naked young man that quickly climbs into the casket and with the strength of ten men easily slides the heavy concrete lid closed over him before lying back into the dampness of the rotting pillow. Now closing his eyes he sleeps and dreams, the dreams in reality ancient memories.
