David Lockhart holds down a pretty typical job, as a sales manager for a company that supplies a long line of products. The company is Basetec and they specialize in prison and correctional security equipment. Lockhart’s sales force is well trained, highly motivated and produce impressive revenue. In fact, Lockhart goes over his projected sales figures every month, for the past fifteen years straight. He is a legend in the correctional market.
Perhaps they wouldn’t think so highly of him, if they knew his contracts were arranged in advance by the Federal government. You see, just about every sale Lockhart arranges has a built-in success factor. The details have already been approved by a higher source. Everything is signed, sealed, and delivered.
Why? Because it’s the perfectly organized cover for David Lockhart. He keeps busy, makes his company a handsome profit, and stays out of the limelight. I mean, who really cares about a sales manager at a prison supply company?
David Lockhart takes off time now and again. His team thinks he goes on vacation.
But that’s not the case. For David Lockhart is an operative with MESA, a Black Ops organization that reports only to the Director of the NSA. Not even the President of the United States knows of their existence. Nor any member of Congress.
So, when orders came through for Lockhart to gather his team together for another top-secret mission, he thought nothing of it. It came from the proper source, within proper channels, encoded with the latest series of ciphers. Everything seemed in order. It was not.
The mission was a one-way ticket to oblivion and the ambush MESA walked into took every life of the team. All except one. Yup, you guessed it. David Lockhart managed to shoot his way out, a combination of skills, training, and the intervention of a mysterious woman.
