Do you think Nikki would like new clothes for Christmas or shall I get her…” Salina cut her off. “I really don’t know, Janice. I have to get going.” “You are such a bitch! Because of you Fredric broke it off with me. Because of you Nikki doesn’t like me.” Janice started walking closer to Salina. That was when Salina saw it; a gun. Starr Reina’s, Cruel Whispers is a magnificent compilation of suspense, drama, and murder. I was held captive from the Prologue to the last line. Her way with words weaved a tale of mental instability in her murderer that is unsurpassed by all others before her. Her vivid description of scenes and characters are some of the best I’ve ever read. She told a story filled with moments of great suspense and wonder. The surprises come one after another and Salina’s life is on the line, but from whom, was the best surprise of all. For anyone who loves suspense, murder and suspicion in their novels, Cruel Whispers is an excellent read. I recommend this book to everyone who loves to read, no matter your type of literary genre. Astounding work of art!!

Cruel Whispers starts with a rather scary touch. When Salina goes to the mall, she meets Janice who points a gun at her head. Janice makes a promise to Salina: she will make her pay for everything she has done to her. Janice is the ex-girlfriend of Salina’s future brother-in-law. She’s blaming Salina for her break-up with her ex-boyfriend and she’s hungry for revenge.
After been married for years to her abusive ex-husband Howard, Salina finds a new love and a new life in the arms of Stuart. But Janice is stalking Salina and threatening her. Her obsessive behavior is making life difficult for Salina and Stuart. All they want is a peaceful life together. But then Salina becomes the victim of a serial killer who kidnaps her. But she’s a fighter, and although she’s terrified she doesn’t give up…
With her first debut Starr Reina has written a wonderful novella. A book in which you will find all the necessary ingredients; lots of love, anger and suspense, but also fear and not to forget, hope. What a wonderful mix! Why only 4 flags? Well because I really regret that Cruel Whispers is only 67 pages long. I would have loved to read more about Salina. Once I started reading Cruel Whispers I couldn’t put it aside until I completely finished it. Now I'm just hoping that Starr Reina has planned some kind of sequel to this story!

Salina Garlin’s life has taken a turn for the better. After finding the courage to divorce her abusive husband Howard, she moved to a new home, started a great job and met a terrific new boyfriend named Stuart Rey. But soon after finding this new happiness, Janice, the girlfriend of Stuart’s brother Frederic, begins a campaign of harassment toward Salina for what she believes is Salina’s involvement in Frederic’s young daughter’s dislike of her and Frederic’s eventual alienation. To make matter worse for Salina, her ex-husband reappears wanting her back.

Starr Reina’s CRUEL WHISPERS is a stark, vivid tale of fear, stalking and obsession. Ms. Reina keeps her reader guessing from start to finish and on the edge of their seat from page to page waiting for what will happen next. I thoroughly enjoyed CRUEL WHISPERS and greatly look forward to Starr Reina’s next book.
