Lady Alisha, wife of the owner of Gilchrist Manor fascinates 8-year-old Hunter Macgregor. It cannot be said that he is in love with her, but the sadness that shows in her eyes touches his young heart. Little does he know that the cat she asks him to help her bury just before she disappears will play such a huge part in his life in the future?
Years later, Hunter is now manager of the Gilchrist textile manufactories, but he is happiest when tending his sheep. When he goes to the aid of a young woman in trouble, the attraction between the pair is instantaneous. All memory has left her, even her name, so Hunter calls her Heather. Something about her strikes a chord within him. The mystery surrounding Heather’s sudden appearance in Scotland deepens when she appears to be American, and apart from recalling certain places in America, has no other memories.
This a masterly [written] historical that kept me entranced from the beginning, not only with the descriptions of the scenery and the local customs, but the passion shared by this couple that sets the pages alight. I fell in love with Hunter’s gentle kindness and with Heather’s cheeky impudence. I am sure any reader will do the same as he teaches her the pleasures to be gained from shared passion, while she teaches him that love overcomes all obstacles.
