Honest, Raw and rejuvenating
I confess that I did not think this book pertained to me. But I was proven famously wrong not long into its fluid prose and encouraging "I feel your struggles" story telling. Mrs. Dennis' book does what few writers have been able to do, that is lure this single mom back to reading, filling me with scriptural references that feed my hunger for insight into why parenting seems so hard sometimes and how it need not feel like a series of mistakes. I confess that I did not expect a happily married mom with a seemingly ideal, suburban, stay-at-home vocation could write a book that would counsel me, a solo parent with a full time job other than the full time call of motherhood. But this book brought me to tears several times, breaking down my misconceptions and showing me we're in this journey together. I smiled often too hearing the same sentiments I thought were unique to me. Most importantly though is this pointed me to God in a personal and deeply vulnerable way.

Funny and inspiring
I'm not a mom, so I'm not quite the target audience. But I thoroughly enjoyed Dennis's account of her adventures (and misadventures) raising two energetic toddlers and learning about God along the way. Every entry was upbeat, funny, and always thought-provoking. My favorite anecdote was definitely the public bathroom incident with the daughter "coaching" Mom! Excellent overall message of blooming where we're planted. I'll be passing this one on to young mothers I know.
