When you look in the mirror what do you see? Do you see what others see in you? As water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects his thoughts, affections, and intentions. Our thoughts reflect our true character; so a man thinketh so is he (Proverbs 23:7). Consequently, our conduct and speech give others insight into the motives of our heart. In addition, our children are a reflection of us: “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” Our children reflect our attitudes, thoughts, beliefs, and values. What “character flaws” do you see in your children that are simply a reflection of you?
