This book goes beyond looking at national and global governance from the perspective of being either "democratic" or "non-democratic." That is because even so-called democratic political systems can be highly exclusionary--- and de facto are non-democratic in representation, in economic distribution, and with high levels of inequality in every category of social life,. Hence, this book makes the argument that we need to look at building "Inclusionary States" and advancing "inclusionary governance" at the national, regional, and international levels. My book is unique in this regard. It provides graphic charts and explanations of what "Inclusionary States" look like and how they function. This is in stark contrast to "Exclusionary States"---which are also described in detail and by explanation, example, and definitions.
This book is unique because it addresses the issue of governance at the national and international levels in terms of the degree to which its political system, news media, economic system and system of wealth and opportunities is either "exclusionary" or "inclusionary." It all discusses in detail the "degrees" of exclusion and/or inclusion that make governance and economic policies either more fair and just, or whether these governance systems are violating human rights to peace, development, and justice for all groups and classes in society. Hence, this book takes an interdisciplinary approach to these questions. The chapters invoke considerations of history, political science, international law, and economics when considering the issues--- AND in defining the key differences between "Exclusionary States" versus "Inclusionary States." In turn, the book demonstrates that there is already in place an international legal structure which supports the path toward "inclusionary governance" and, in so doing, supports strategies to eliminate poverty, economic disparities that lead to massive inequality, and can bring an end to the marginalization and deprivation of billions of peoples around the globe.
