Here's another excerpt from my first book Prophecy of Vithan 8/2/2007 from Cerridwen Press.
Excerpt Four: Prophecy of Vithan by Charlene Leatherman (Unedited)
"According to your Prot history I've killed all my masters. Why should I stop with you?" Morgan said evenly.
Len looked at Morgan for a second. It seemed like light-years. The woman in front of him stood rigid with anger. He could feel the electricity between them. Suddenly an urge to kiss her flowed over him. This time he wanted her to resist. He wanted Morgan to fight him. He didn't want her to return the fire. Len wanted things black and white. She was a murderer. He would simply have her executed. She killed the Royals and the Prince and wounded the Regent. She threatened him and killed two of his men. She was a danger to society.
The argument sounded right. However, he knew it wasn't true. If she was dangerous and planned to kill Khai, why bring him with her to the game house Khai was at? Why not kill me, considered Len, when she had the chance in the bedroom or during the game or in her office, or during the fall or in the crawler… too many times she could have killed me and didn't. She behaved gently with the boy. She fought like a tiger when she thought Khai was in danger. She even took on the pain of electrocution to keep Khai from harming himself during the morph. I might not agree with how she handled the morph, but Morgan definitely wanted Khai alive and well.
It didn't make sense. Len didn't like situations which didn't make sense.
He leaned in slightly. He moved his mouth closer to Morgan's She didn't move away or turn her head. Len tenderly placed his mouth on hers. He kissed her, softly. An electric thrill ran along his spine. He wanted to continue kissing her. He wanted to rip off her suit and throw her on the ground, taking her luscious body. He wanted to hear her cries of passion while she writhed under him.
He wanted to … regain control of his emotions and find some sense to this matter.
Morgan's eyes shined bright with desire. Her cheeks flushed.
Len wanted to say 'Please show me your back. I want to understand what Vespasian did to you. I want to understand what you are talking about. I can't stop you if you want to escape. If what you say is true, the Protectors will kill you. I can't live with that. Khai will not be safe. I know I need your help to keep him safe. If I don't have your help, I'll fail, again. I don't want to live with that. I don't know what Anthes or the Elder said to you. If they both talked about the Temple and Khai may be there, then I want to know why I'm about to betray my organization and follow you to the Temple'.
Len pushed back from the crawler. He stepped away from Morgan. She didn't move to try to escape. Len forced his thoughts to remain on trying to understand. His thoughts returned to the kiss.
Len wanted to say 'When I kiss you, you are the universe to me. You've given me reason to doubt what I've been told. You've given me reason to believe life might be worth living. Life might have something more to offer than brutalizing people. You're my wife. I want to protect you. I want to grow old with you. I want this marriage to last'.
Instead,
"I'm ordering you to show me your back. If you do not comply, I'll use the command on you. Tell me about what happened."
Len regretted it the moment he said it. The look in Morgan's eyes changed instantly.
Morgan nodded, wearily. She unzipped the holosuit. She pulled her arms halfway out of the sleeves and turned around. She lowered the suit exposing her back. She pulled her hair forward. Her hair, black and silky, draped over her shoulder covered one of her breasts. Len took a deep breath to control his rising desire.
