The Three of Me is told by a Christian woman, who on her own discovered at the age of 14 she had three distinguished voices inside her head, and all three wanted to be heard. In her story, she describes the lives of each of her personalities.

 Introduction

I am a saint in the church, a lady in the streets, and a tiger in the bedroom. How many times have those words floated from my mouth? I realize all too well which of the three was ready to play the role. And that, my friend, has been the story of my life.

Which of the three will have more influence today? Who would strive for attention on this day? Yes, there has been a struggle along the way. Who am I today? At an early age of around fourteen, I discovered that I had three strong personalities, and each person wanted to be heard. I have even been told by those who have gotten to really know me to say the words, “I know the other three, but who’s that one?”

Can you believe it? A fourth one was on the verge of auditioning for a part. Even I had to say four is a bit too much, so I did not entertain the fourth personality because I did not want to become confused. However, my mom got a glimpse of her, and Mom said, “I don’t know who the hell you are, but you’re going to get up out of my home.” Mom spoke to that individual. I remembered she went away that day. My mom wasn’t having the likes of her butt around. I just sat there quietly. Why was this happening to me? And was it happening to others?

Some people may think I am crazy, but for me, knowing who I was played a major part in what decision I made at that time.

Now, as I unfold each personality, you will then better understand who I am. Not that you would care, but knowing has kept me with a sound mind.

My whole life has been a play. I was always auditioning for a part. I had to know my lines and what role I was playing. I remember guys saying, “No, not Louise. I want to see Shawn.” I know some people know what I am talking about.

Think about the times you were in your bedroom, and you had to fake as if you liked it, but it really wasn’t doing anything for you. Well, didn’t you have to play the part, as if you did like it? Or how about when you played the part of being a nice person and complimented the ugly baby saying, “Oh, she’s so cute.” But you really wanted to play the mean part and say, “Gosh! That child is ugly.” There have been times when we say one thing out loud, but another thing is being played inside our head.

In writing this book, I hope to shed some light and hope for others.
