Excerpt
Kari blinked, shaking her head. Cautiously, she extended one hand. Her exploring fingers encountered rough, wooden planks. She was half sitting, half lying and stones from a wall jutted uncomfortably into her back. The air was still, and it was very dark. How long had she been lying here? Had she been mugged? She sat up, trying to remember. There had been a man. What had happened to the stranger on the Heath? The park was quieter than she had ever known it. The lack of traffic noise made it eerie, deep shadows concealing everything more than an arms length away.
Her head hurt, and she put up a wary hand to feel a swelling bruise above her eye. The touch made her wince, but her fingers stayed dry. No blood. She sniffed the air. The odor of straw and animal sweat and dung brought back childhood memories of days on her grandfather's farm. Maybe the blow on the head had sent her sense of smell haywire?
The stranger's empty shopping bag still lay on its side on the ground—so her memory of the moments before her blackout was correct. As she peered into the gloom, a faint snuffle came from beside her, and a wet nose pushed against her arm. Kari put out a hand.
"Hallo there, Ben," she whispered. "Are you okay, boy? What do you think happened?"
The dog licked the back of her hand. She could feel his shivering and rubbed his ears with a reassurance she was far from feeling. What were her senses trying to tell her? She pushed herself up a little more, looking around. Surely, it was darker than she remembered? She felt for her watch, still on her wrist. So the man in black was not a mugger—or he was an inefficient one.

JOURNEY'S END is an excellent time travel romance with a "you-are-there"
feel. The depiction of medieval England is realistic enough to make one glad
that it is history. The hero and heroine are intelligent and likable and the
villains provide enough suspense to keep this a page-turner without taking
over the story.

The time-travel premise in this story was believable and the futuristic
world Aidan lived in was drawn just enough to be interesting without
interfering with the story. The historical detail was very interesting and
the attitudes toward women and the paupers of this period were clearly
defined. There is action from the first paragraph and the love story between
Aidan and Karina is developed throughout the whole. The story is fun and
entertaining from start to finish.
