The mere fact that "Paper Prison" book is published in a paper book format is a strong testimonial of the concept and ideas this book advocates.
In Paper Prison, I intend to help the reader see the surrounding paper environment from a different perspective, and let the reader make this paradigm shift and feel what it is like to be in a Paper Prison.
Further, I will help the reader determine his or her readiness for the challenge of change. I will try to help him or her understand all the preparations required for , and the challenges of making the decision to change. I'll also show the reader how to survive outside the Paper Prison, using the metaphor I used in the book and used as a title.
Most of what I have to say will be from my own perspective, but I will not leave the reader with a single viewpoint. (My personal experience as a technology consultant and the memories of what it is like to be an end user from within the three-year experience).

Chapter one “The Concept” defines and covers the Paper Prison concept in details and tries to put a solid framework to emphasize the concept using metaphors and anecdote. Understanding the concept is essential at this point before the reader goes any further.
Chapter two “The Content and The Context” explains how the importance of Content was confused with the important of Paper the Context. It then goes to explain how we got ourselves into the Paper Prison. It gives a brief of Paper history and its importance and the effect of cutting trees to manufacture paper on the environment. The chapter then goes to the history of typewriters and copying machines. It then shows that excellent copies made by copying machines lead to the concept of the “Original” document, and how this became an obsession. The chapter ends with a brief review of signatures and rubber stamps in the context of authenticity and integrity of the original document
Chapter three “Despite the Technology” is a manifestation of the contradictions we live in today utilizing technology with a paper based mindset. It shows how one vendor has called his email product CC Mail; the product name of an electronic mail was Carbon Copy!. It finally shows how despite of all the technological luxury in which we live today we still revert back and depend on paper.
* Part II, "eScape" show the reader what exactly to expect when trying to escape a prison with no walls or cells. It asks important questions such as we REALLY in a prison, do we want to escape that prison, and if it has no walls or cells what should we escape. It then provide a shows the challenges facing the escape process such as CHANGE and then goes to issues such as security and privacy in the electronic life. This part is concluded with a floral manifestation of what life would be like without paper.
Chapter four “How to escape a Paper Prison” puts forth important questions such as we REALLY in a prison, do we want to escape that prison, and if it has no walls or cells what should we escape. It arrives at the conclusion that a Paper Prison is a prison of the heart and mind. It is fear and hopelessness that makes the prison; so the escape has to be a change from within.
Chapter five “Change: the biggest challenge” explains that more technology might not be the answer to what we need. It shows how the change in the mindset is the stepping stone creating the desire to change. It covers aspects for overcoming change resistance on the individual level and on the corporate level.
Chapter six “ is a review of the security and privacy safeguards available in electronic systems that are essential for proper utilization of these technologies. It discusses potential threats of privacy breaches if Big Brother misuses the freedom of information and content flow. It also shows how security loopholes in electronic systems could lead to great lose. The chapter wraps up with a positive note that despite the fear of electronic theft and hacking, electronic content is easier to manage and restore than content stored on paper.
Chapter seven “ Life without Paper” deals with the aftermath of the eScape. This chapter shows the reader how to make the transition and handle the inevitable disturbances that accompany it. It also shows the reader how to deal with paper, if any, from a different perspective or with a new and liberal understanding of the non mastering role of paper and for different usages.
The “Conclusion” wraps up the whole book with the idea that we can escape a prison of paper, though it has no walls or cells. We can only do that if we can overcome our feelings of insecurity without paper and have the trust in the content not the context.
