The summer flew by; unexpectedly the Baker clan finally listened to Nana. It only took God calling her home for us to do so. Nana’s home going celebration was June thirtieth and I was baptized the following Sunday along with my husband and his sister. The fourth of July was a memorable occasion. The entire family broke bread together after church, and watched fireworks that evening. For the first time in my life I felt like I belonged. Everything was great except the absence of our lip smacking, trash talking, loving Nana. God rest her soul.
Angel started pulling up and standing, and Sara was right on his heels. Shyla’s weekly phone calls continued and now that Nana was gone she had something else to complain about. August was just around the corner and Johanna’s sixteenth birthday party was in the works. August fourteenth was a major holiday in her eyes. After going to the mall to find an outfit for her I made a pit stop at Walgreen’s. I had to put my mind to rest.
