In the pale yellow beams of the moon Joseph could see her halo of long golden curls and the soft brown color of her skin. He was engaged in his own nightly ritual of watching her nightly ritual.
The first time he saw her peculiar dance in the moonlight was strictly an accident. He had just moved in and was up late. He had arrived at the rent house in the late afternoon, unpacked, ate and began setting up his work area. Around midnight he went into the bedroom to go to sleep, and that’s when he spotted her.Her house could barely be seen through the trees and shrubs, and it wasn’t until he pulled the drapes closed that he first saw her. She was twirling slowly in a circle, her white nightdress billowing out around her. Her hair looked like a thick mat of ropes, golden in the moonlight. She stopped and raised her arms toward the moon. He couldn’t see her face.Suddenly Joseph felt guilty for invading her privacy and pulled away from the window. What was she doing? How old is she? His curiosity took over and he peered back out the window, but she was gone. He waited, gave up, looked out later, and gave up again.
He had checked every night since that first night almost two weeks ago, and every night he saw her doing the same ritual, then she walked out of his sight.
