Romance, adultery, racism, religion, gender bias, and even a suspicious murder. It's all in this short novel, written with compassion, humor and an unrivaled understanding of history and of human nature.
Although her writings appeal more to women, men suffer from similar challenges, they just experience them differently. The way we were raised can often be our worst enemy when it comes to getting healed.
For some of you this book will touch you in a deep and personal way, like therapy. Others may take comfort knowing that you are not alone as you seek change in your life.

Smart Men Will Appreciate This Book
Before I read this book I had almost convinced myself that this was not my type of story. I've read my share of books by black women who portray black men in a negative or stereotypical fashion (sometimes justified). Reading this book reminded me of summers with my grandfather, uncles and other positive role models.
As an online magazine editor, I've gone out of my way to make sure that my magazine has relevant content for women. It was nice to read a book where the "brothers" added value to the lives of others.
Tj Baker tells the stories of men and women whose voices are missing, not because they don’t want to speak, but because they don’t get heard. That alone made it worth my time.
