Archmed was worried. The ship had to be in and out on the next tide, and even then an aircraft patrol might spot them. There was always a chance of running into a naval patrol boat in these waters. No amount of ‘no speakee English, we didn’t know where we were going to’ would make any difference. He and his crew would be thrown into an Australian jail and eventually flown home. He knew that the Australians would destroy the boat upon which his livelihood depended.
This wasn’t his first run, and experience had taught him not to be complacent. He quickly scanned the sea again, and wished for a wind. A wind would make the crab pot markers almost invisible to prying eyes. There were ten in a random pattern with only two marking the hidden containers. The Australian boat would know which two markers were the correct ones. He set a course that would take them into international waters as soon as possible, praying to Allah that his luck had held. The local fishing boat would not be in these waters for another week. They would pick up the sunken parcels marked by the crab pot markers and then unload them onto another remote stretch of coastline. From here they would be transported by four wheel drive and finally end up in the cities. It was a long and risky trail. One that started in the poppy fields far away and ended up in the noses of the infidels. He smiled to himself. He was well paid and a good member of the jihad. Maybe he wasn’t going to be a martyr just yet, but he did his bit. Archmed had decided long ago that money was much better than the promises to the young men at the gatherings of the faithful. Better to enjoy life on Earth than to rely on the promises of his faith.
