A mad killer roams the Australian outback, pursued by an ex cop and a hopeless newspaper reporter.
Have a Nice Day..the story of a mad killer in the outback. Hotly pursued by our hopeless, nosey reporter who, as usual, ends up making the news instead of reporting it. The story is set amongst the Spinifex clumps of the Tanami Desert and into the timeless country around Three Ways in the Northern Territory.

“Harry, you stay here with the engine running. If you see anything, anything at all, get the hell out of here.”
“What about you?”
“Just do it, OK?”
Harry nodded as Craig grabbed the rifle, took a quick look around, and started to circle the wreck with his gun at the ready. Harry, expecting a hail of bullets at any minute, sat with his feet on the accelerator and clutch with the box in gear and the engine running. Craig slowly and warily checked everywhere as he slowly made his way towards the wreck. He walked with a measured stride. Harry thought it was taking hours, but it was only a few minutes until Craig reached the vehicle, took a quick look inside through the open door at the passengers’ side and warily walked back. After giving the surrounding area another look with his rifle following his eye movement, Craig got back into his seat. He looked directly into Harry’s eyes.
“Dead cop,” he said in a tired voice.
“Shit! “
“Looks like he’s been shot.”
“Let’s get out of here!”
“Harry whoever did this is long gone.”
“How do you know?”
“Because he’s been dead for a while.”
“How do you know that Freaky’s not watching us at this very minute?”
“Because if he was, we’d both be dead by now.”
“You sure?”
“No, but he hasn’t hung around any of his other victims, has he?”
Harry was busy peering everywhere, ready to take off at a minutes notice.
“Shut the engine off”
“You sure?”
“Just do it Harry.”
Harry did it. With a long sigh Craig reached over onto the back seat and grabbed the sat phone. It made several beeps before Craig swore. Harry had never heard him do that before, and coming at this time was even more alarmed than he had been a minute ago.
“What’s wrong?”
“Flat battery!”
“How come?”
Craig didn’t bother to answer; he leaned forward and hit the buttons on the HF. The set sprung to life, something that Harry found strangely comforting. Craig kept his finger on one button and the radio series of tones. Craig waited for a few seconds and tried again. This time when Craig swore it wasn’t quite as alarming.
“No HF coverage either!”
They sat quietly for a minute. Harry looking everywhere while Craig’s eyes drifted back to the wreck.
“Come on Harry, start her up. Looks like we’re off to Nappa station. We need to tell the cops.”
Harry didn’t need to be told twice. The sooner they were away from this place, the better.
