To hell and back is the perfect description of the travels and experiences experienced by the two main characters in this novel, Lia and Nigel, a successful Hollywood film producer and a down-home church-going Christian woman. From all outside appearances, the two live a fairytale life. Without giving too much of the storyline away, find out what happens when a very active in the church, career-woman gives up everything to move across country to marry a man she barely even knew. Could the bond with Nigel’s Aunt Rita be the only thing these two have in common? Unbeknownst to very supportive family and church members, demons begin to attack the couple at the very outset. They manage to hide their troubles, but only for a little while. All is revealed when trouble and tragedy strikes. The story is very interesting and the authors flow kept my attention. I have to admit that the constant use of the word “bought” instead of “brought” throughout the entire book kept making me wonder if this was a typo or not. I eventually got over it. Additionally, I am slowly getting over the notion of “judging a book by its cover” because I would have had no idea the novel was juicy at it is. Alicia Hill Jones does a good job of incorporating spiritual principles and bringing forth the conscious of the main characters while they go through various trials and situations. Experiencing much adversity, the pair is then forced to lean on the family members and church members from whom they have slowly drifted. Will they finally realize that turning back to their respective Christian foundations is the only way to find their true purpose?
