This 162 page book is the second volume of Woven Threads - a collection of short fiction stories.
In this volume of Woven Threads, you will find twenty-seven wonderful short stories that will both amuse and intrigue. One of my favorite stories was a rather silly romp, split into a two part continuation, called “Dangit”. The story will have you smiling from start to finish. Another one I really enjoyed, “Mist of the Moors”, is a story that could easily be expanded into a book and I hope to see the author do this in time. It is a spectacular mystery romance, but to say too much would be to give away the story. A must read for sure.
The thing that stands out most, in my mind, after reading this book is how very diverse author Trish MacQueen’s work is. One minute, she has you sitting with a silly smirk upon your face, and in the next, she has you reaching for a tissue to dry a damp eye. Her characters are all realistic and each fits easily within the story, making them a joy to read.
I would strongly recommend this wonderful book and can tell you honestly, that not having read Woven Threads I, I am left with the feeling that I missed several delightful stories. Molly Martin’s review of Woven Threads 1 has me clamoring to read more work by this talented, and often surprising, author. Where she comes up with such an assortment of unique and entertaining stories is beyond me. I am already looking forward to Woven Threads III, which I understand will be released in the summer of 2005.
As always I am working backwards, but I am now off to buy and read Woven Threads I. The great thing with short story collections is that you can read them in any order and at your leisure.
I wish this author much continued success. If you do not have a copy of this book, I strongly recommend you buy one. It would make a great gift item anytime throughout the year.
