Dana Davis has created an enchanting world, with rich details that made me feel immersed in the experience of the story early on in the book. I grew to care about the characters quickly - the Gypsy mothers, elders, younglings, servants, and oath-sworn. There were a lot of characters and it was easy to identify each one of them and grow to care about them through Dana's intimate descriptions and adept, creative way of bringing in their back story as well as their weaknesses and strengths. She has a great writing ability and it drew me into the story of her characters as they were initiated into becoming full Gypsies devoted to the Goddess, while learning how to harnass the energy of their various abilities. I loved how the energy of the Goddess was drawn up through the earth and viscerally felt by the characters.

After finishing the first novel, I immediately went and purchased the second and third in the series.
