Dr. Erin Jacobs is on her way home when she hears gunshots ring through the night. When she rounds the corner, she sees two police officers shot. Thinking quickly, she radios for help, checks on the officers and disappears. Detective Logan Sinclair is going to need some physical therapy after surgery for his gunshot wound. As luck would have it, Erin is assigned his case. Clues lead them on a chase to find the shooters... and who they were really aiming for that fateful night.
Wow, twists and turns abound in this novel. Mrs. Patrick writes a great story with an ending that hits you squarely between the eyes. You think you have it figured out and then she adds a subplot, a little back story, a dash of conspiracy and you are left wondering where you are heading next. The characters are likeable and more importantly, believable. You feel the inner struggle of Dr. Jacobs and are amazed at the patience of Detective Sinclair. Lethal Dreams intertwines faith with intrigue in such a seamless nature that you can’t imagine one without the other in the storyline. This truly is a page turner that keeps you enthralled from the first word to the extremely exciting finish. Do yourself a favor and pick up this book!

This tightly written, suspense packed story, only has one small flaw, for me. By the end of the book, I came away feeling Erin Jacobs was just too good to be true. And then I felt real mean, because she is such a wonderful caring and compassionate woman who’s used all life’s hard knocks to benefit those she helps. Anne Patrick feeds Erin’s background slowly throughout the story and each revelation takes you deeper into her past and all the clues are there, but the finale is a real shocker, and totally believable.
“She got on the car radio, gave their location, and reported officers down and in need of immediate medical attention.” This sentence confused me, because by this time we know what Erin’s occupation is, and it is a good while before this confusion is cleared up. Thus I was drawn out of a dynamic scene trying to puzzle out the anomalies when I should have been following the action. And yet this scene sets the up-coming action and responses.
Logan’s first meeting with Erin is in a dark alley when she administers to the gunshot wound he’s sustained. He’s conscious enough to recognise several puzzles about his rescuer to ensure he goes searching for her. He succeeds in his mission in the most unlikely of circumstances. From that moment on, he determines to break through her defensive barriers and persuade her there’s more to life than work.
First, together, they have to trounce an unknown enemy and come to terms with their pasts. One of the final twists in the plot creates a heart-warming and totally unexpected ending that ensures the reader will go searching for more of Anne Patrick’s books.
For those who enjoy sweet, inspirational romance, this is a book for you. For those who enjoy romantic suspense, you will not be disappointed. And for those who enjoy TOT (Triumph over Tragedy) stories, this is a book that has it all.

Dr. Erin Jacobs loves her job of helping big name sports figures recover from injuries that could end their careers. Having been in their position she knows how to encourage and motivate them. With her fun and loving personality she is very well liked by her friends as well as her patients. So why would anyone want to hurt her?
Detective Logan Sinclair and his partner find themselves the victims of a shooting. As the shooters are speeding away they nearly hit Erin who is riding her bike home. She quickly spots the two officers, checks for pulses and calls for help on their car radio. As soon as that's done Logan hears her whisper that she needs to get out of there. He is intrigued by Erin. He finds out that she was a cops wife and that her husband was killed in the line of duty, which explained her reaction. Now she is helping him with the recovery of his shoulder and in the meantime trying to find out the mystery of the shooting and how it relates to Erin.
This was a great read! I loved the chemistry between Logan and Erin. Erin was a great character. Even though she had been through so much herself she had a big heart and lots of love for others. She was doubting her faith but you could certainly relate as to why that was. Logan was a to-die-for hero. His soft and gentle ways sure won my heart! He had such a strong faith and inner strength. I loved all the secondary characters as well. I found myself caring about these people as I read the story. Anne Patrick has an easy writing style that draws you into the story and makes you feel like you're living it with the characters. There was a twist and turn at the end that I never saw coming. I love that! I recommend you pick up a copy of Lethal Dreams.
