"Release me this instant you lout!" Her order came out on a hiss.
William did not release her but bared his straight white teeth in a wolfish grin and pulled her closer. "But you seemed so peaceable a moment ago, lass. In fact, if I didna know better I would have thought you-"
Coira clamped a hand over his mouth, knowing full well he was about to say something appalling. She narrowed her eyes. "Shush."
"Shush?" He pried her hand from his mouth but did not release it. Instead he turned it over, his eyes falling to the glimmering diamond engagement ring on her finger. "Do you love him?"
She hadn't expected the question and he knew it. "Of course I do."
His silver regard returned to her face. Whatever he saw there pleased him. "As a friend."
She frowned. No. Not as a friend, as a fiancé. "No, as a man."
Were his lips edging closer?
His hand rose to her face and traced her jaw line. "A man that is a friend."
What did he just say? His forefinger and thumb clutched her chin. She would not be distracted and spoke with a level of calm she didn't feel. "A friend that is a fiancé."
Oh lord, that didn't come out right at all.
"So 'tis to be a marriage of convenience." His throaty declaration brought his lips closer.
Coira's eyelids suddenly became very heavy and her lips throbbed. "Is it not convenient to marry a friend?"
Again, not what she intended to say.
His lips were within an inch of hers, his brogue soft. "Aye, 'tis convenient enough, but what of passion?"

Take one non-magical nineteenth century mild mannered school teacher add one thirteenth century wizard, Highland Laird - oh did I mention he's gorgeous? Add a pinch of time travel, a sprinkling of mystery, a dose of adventure, and you've got yourself a recipe for one of the best romances of the summer.
Sky Purington brings us a great imaginative story - one filled with unbelievable events, and yet she makes her readers believe it with her passionate and heartfelt dialogue. Words that will illustrate her tale for her audience, who will feel the chill of winter and experience the emotions of her characters. Now her characters are a wondrous group and it will become obvious to readers that the author knows each of them intimately as she brings them to life for us.
Her hero William and heroine Coira are the well-developed three dimensional stars of this story who you will feel compassion for, hurt with and cheer on. Her supporting characters are stars in and of themselves as they add meaning and depth to the tale, and to our understanding of not only our hero and heroine but to their own stories as well. The romance is fanciful, fraught with pitfalls and failures as the author makes her characters work for that always-elusive Happy Ever After. The love scenes are sensuous and steamy but never crass and are filled with love and longing.
If you're looking for that great summer beach read that will take your mind off all your worries this one is for you. If you love the time travel romances of Lynn Kurland, this one equals any of hers. This is a must read for fans of great romance. Even though this is book three of the trilogy it stands well on it's own, but I have to admit that now I have to read the other two."

"I have never read any of Sky Purington's books before, but after reading "Sylvan Mist", I can't wait to read more. It is a great book, mixing magic with history and time travel with romance, all following a family line through time. I loved the storyline and the great characters. I could sense from the first that the hero and heroine were meant for each other, but it took a lot of ups and downs before it finally happened. And I loved the ending, where two old lovers were finally reunited to spend the rest of their lives together. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends and family. I really enjoyed it."
