It is not a silken rose.
Nor the rich, honeyed kiss of chocolate.
It is not snow white, ruffled lace,
braided round illusions of the heart,

It is not these things.
Love is a blade.
Sharp as thought.
Crimson with the blood of thousands.
Tarnished with the gore of all.
