Harlem is a beautiful, smart, and funny seventeen year old. She lives in the projects with her drug addicted parents whose addiction is so far gone Harlem must fend for herself and at times do a little hustling of her own to feed their habit. As if things can't get worse, soon Harlem 's world is turned upside down when her mother dies from a drug overdose and her father pulls the ultimate betrayal by prostituting her.
After this brutal act, Harlem is pushed into an adult world and into the hands of a crime and drug lord named Chief who gives Harlem every luxury she has ever dreamed of and more pain and suffering than she can stand. Used as a pretty object, Harlem is forced to engage in degrading and humiliating sexual acts, as well as break the law for Chief.
Things unfold when an old crush named Savior and the crime lord Stuckey show up and secrets of her mother and her life are revealed, leaving Harlem in for an explosive surprise. A war over turf is waged between Stuckey and Chief. Harlem finds herself in the middle, leaving her to once again depend on the strength she has inside to find a way out. Harlem on Lock is a story of love, revenge, and redemption.

I was born on February 27, 1978 and given the name Karen Lynn Williams. Initially I was raised with my mother, father two brothers. However, I had a sister who stayed with my grandparents. Once my father passed away we moved in with our grandparents. We liven in Compton, California and I have never lived in any other state.

We moved to Long Beach, California when I was nine and I attended Poly High School, I graduated in 1996. Even as a child I always loved to read so I decided to go to college and major in Literature. I became pregnant my first year of college and gave birth to a girl named Adara. Despite the struggle of being a single parent I was able to finish College. However, finding a career that I was happy in that I could survive on was a whole different story and one that I still battle with. Currently I work in Probation as a Corrections Officer and despite my desire to teach I cannot seem to pass the math on the CBEST which is why I’m in the field I am in.

I now reside in Bellflower, California and have been here for over a year now. I stay with my daughter who is now ten and a very good student. She use to ice skate now she does ballet. My hobbies include cooking, listening to music, and writing. I have written five books and have a novel coming out next year in January with QBORO Books Publishing. My dream is to be a successful writer, obtain my Masters Degree, and own a childcare center as well as a youth center.  I decided to pursue my Masters n Early Childhood Education because I have always enjoyed working with small children and I would like to have many career possibilities.

Harlem On Lock Excerpt
Savior and I stayed on the freeway for over an hour. All Savior could say through out the trip was, “Whoa.” After I went over what Stuckey had just told me.
“I know, my mom was a real fucking trip, huh?”
Mama, I thought, you need your ass whipped for this one!
“People make mistakes.”
“Yeah. I know all about that. I was raised by two walking mistakes.”
We exited the freeway which was practically empty due to it being so late. Once off, we stopped at a red light where Savior took the opportunity to kiss me. And I know I wasn’t hearing things when T.I. blared in my ears making my heart speed up rapidly. But it wasn’t coming from our car. My hands gripped one of Savior’s as I peered out the rearview mirror.
“Damn, baby, you got a tight ass grip.”
I didn’t reply, just kept looking at the side mirror at the Excursion behind us that had Chief’s driver inside of it.
“Harlem, you okay?”
My breathing had become shallow. I pointed behind me with a shaking finger.
Savior looked out his side mirror.
My lips trembled and my knees began to shake.
“Damn,” he muttered.
The SUV honked at us but Savior ignored it and took off as soon as the light changed to green. The truck trailed behind us.
Savior increased his speed.
My eyes shot back to the mirror.
They were close, right on our heels.
He made a quick right. “Harlem, I’m gonna get us out of this shit,” he promised.
But I didn’t respond. My stomach was twisting in knots and I could not stop my body from trembling.
He punched it to sixty and shot past a stop sign, took a quick left, then a quick right and drove down another street.
I gripped the armrest on the car door as Savior skidded to a stop at a red light.
When it turned green Savior sped off again and quickly turned down an alley. I craned my neck to see the Excursion pause at the alley opening as if he was going to let us go. He busted a U-turn and went the other way.
Savior paused for a minute then put the car in reverse and backed up to go the opposite way. I looked wildly behind me through the back window as he closed the distance and we were about to dip out of the alley. But just as we reached the end and Savior was about to make a quick right, the Excursion, along with a black car, were on us and we were caged the fuck in!
“Harlem, duck!”
Savior shoved my head down as glass shattered into the car from the impact from a bat one of the dudes swung at it.
A fist swept through the window and Savior was punched in his face and dragged from the car by three guys who threw him on the pissy-ass alley ground and commenced to whipping on him. I screamed loudly and cursed them bastards for putting their hands on him.
Suddenly, Solomon’s ugly ass face filled the broken car window. “Come here, bitch.”
“Fuck you!”
I scooted my body as far towards the passenger side as possible and swung my foot at his head.
He ducked and leaned further in the car, grabbed my arm and dragged my ass out. I grimaced as broken glass prickled my skin.
He held my arms behind me making it impossible for me to move them, and he leaned my body backwards so I was on the balls of my feet and leaning against him, keeping me off balance.
“Let me go, you cross-eyed mothafucka.”
He tongue teased my right earlobe and he whispered, “You know you talk a lot of shit. Maybe I’m gonna have to stuff your mouth with my dick, just to shut you up.”
I threw my head back and tried to spit on him. He used his other hand to push my face away and laughed.
“You put your shit in my mouth you gonna end up with a stump for a dick,” I threatened.
“Relax, boo. We’ll have time for that later. Chief wanted you to see this.”
I sobbed and shook my head as Solomon forced me to watch the three men continue to beat on Savior. One held him up while one continued to pound his flesh with his fist, making Savior groan. The other joined in the attack, swinging his bat at Savior, hitting him in his back and side. Blood was running down Savior’s face as he still tried to fight back but he couldn’t. The dude holding the bat swung it again and hit Savior in the mouth, making me scream at the top of my lungs and struggle against Solomon. Blood sprayed from his mouth and Savior dropped to the ground, but they continued to hit and stomp his body until he stopped moving and his blood was splattered all over the ground at their feet.
“Savior! Savior!” I sobbed over and over again. A pain rose in my chest, because I didn’t know if Savior was dead or alive.
The three men hopped in the Excursion.
But Solomon didn’t move an inch. His feet remained rooted in the spot we were both in.
One of the dudes in the passenger seat next to Chief’s driver yelled, “What the fuck you waiting for? Let’s go!”
“Ahhh…Fellas, I’m about to make a quick detour.”
When he rubbed his dick against the crack of my ass I knew just what detour he meant.
I screamed for help as loud as I could but it didn’t stop Solomon from dragging me to his car, throwing me in the back seat and trying to pull my pants and panties down. I used all the power I possessed to get his ass off of me. I scratched his face, kicked him in the nuts, bit one of his fingers, but still, some way he managed to get my pants down to my ankles. He planted his knees into my thighs so I couldn’t escape and held my hands over my head in one of his hands. Then with the other he unzipped his pants and yanked out his raggedy little dick.
“I been waiting to do his shit for the longest, but Savior’s ass beat me to it.”
He stuck a finger in my pussy making me close my eyes and squirm. “Let me get this shit wet and ready for me.” He wiggled his finger around inside of me.
I cried again and kept yelling.
Just as he was about to stick his shit into me he was plucked off of me and pushed aside by Chief’s driver.
“Man, what the fuck are you doing?” Solomon yelled, pulling away from him and stomping his feet on the concrete like a damn kid.
The driver said simply, “You know what the orders were.”
It was the first time I heard him speak. And his words were like music to my ears because those words saved me from getting raped by Solomon.
“Man, I was just trying to get me a little piece. He’s going to kill the bitch anyway. What fucking harm would it have done?”
When Solomon caught sight of the look of murder in the driver’s eyes, he backed up slightly and said, “Okay, big man, it’s your call.”
Without another word, Chief’s driver yanked my pants up around my waist and pulled me from out of the car. He held me in a tight grip and swept past Solomon. He didn’t release me until me made it to the truck where he shoved me in the back seat near one of the three guys that had whipped on Savior.
I stared out the window at Savior’s body. He wasn’t moving and I started crying all over again as they, without the lease bit of concern, drove right by him, leaving him to die out there. Even Solomon sped away in the opposite direction in the black car.
I kept sobbing and loudly sniffing and calling out Savior’s name until one of the dudes said, “Shut that bitch up.”
Then one of them reached over and punched me in the mouth, knocking me out cold.
