When semi-retired professor of English, Charles Bentley finds his next door neighbor dead on her kitchen floor without any signs of an injury. He wonders how she died. He is skeptical when the coroner says it was a heart attack because the woman was in good health. As Charles digs further into her life, he finds many things that make him reconsider his own life. He also discovers that she did not die of a heart attack, rather she died for art.
