CRAZY LIL' MEDIA
Kansas City has many media outlets, but Larry Rochelle chose KCPT public television and The Pitch alternative newspaper for his internships. What developed was a witty, critical memoir of his time volunteering at those media sources during the terror time of autumn 2001.
"Rochelle uses first-hand accounts, interviews, emails and his own colorful remarks to enlighten the time of stress in Kansas City immediately before and after the terror attacks in New York."
"Readers will catch a glimpse at the inner workings at KCPT-TV and shadow Larry Rochelle as he walks the streets of Kansas City to find stories to write for The Pitch newspaper."
"Hard-hitting!"
"Revealing!"
"Sure to cause discussion!"
Excerpt
"An old TV effects generator and control board, not in use any more, sat right in front of me. The little toggle switches were calling out to me to push some of them, but I wasn’t sure the board was completely unplugged, not wanting to create some sort of disaster by touching something. There must have been 100 different switches on the board. Insane."
This is not a drill. The attack on Pearl. They were the ghost planes of the night, deadly, illusive, sharp-clawed Black Cats. The Memoirs of ARM H.P. Lawrence, a Pearl Harbor survivor, Black Cat, and decorated war veteran.
A passionate and poignant memoir written by a woman whose life has been guided by the words: "I am here to learn how to love well." The book is a deep examination of relationships, family, motivation, and honoring of the Self.
