The one overlooked area of focus in the discipline of Project Management is communications, which I believe to be the most important skill a top PM must possess. Having a book written from that perspective is invaluable because it shows you how to be successful. If you can keep your Customers and stakeholders informed, the easier it is to manage risks and even surprises. It also stimulates trust which is another critical element of a Projects dynamics. This book optimizes my chances of success in whatever PMO/Org I am working in. At my company, we recently started to practice Agile Methodology so it was great to see that addressed in the book. Maybe even more so that traditional waterfall models Agile requires GREAT communication skills and abilities. Additionally, we have a corporate Intranet Social Media tool we use to collaborate, share, etc. much like the public ones. Having some concrete examples of how to use Communication to a projects advantage were really appreciated. I keep this book close by and refer to it frequently for ideas & examples that are easy to implement and effective in my projects. Thank you for the insights! This book is worth its weight in gold.

Excellent book covering a wide variety of communication tools and techniques across all ten PMBOK knowledge areas and the full project lifecycle. Pretty hefty but well written and easy to read. Includes ideas on incorporating social media into project communication. Introduces the concept of project BI, which integrates disparate project data sources to create a single scorecard, the goal being to give executives, customers, team members a way to quickly interpret, understand, and act on project information to improve the project’s chance of success.
Great book with a ton of very useful tools
Great book with a ton of very useful tools. I have been doing project management for a while so had got into a bit of a rut with what I do. This is really helping me get to the next level. I also really like the fact that it addresses social media and project management. I highly recommend this book.
