“Let me get this straight.” He took in a deep breath and turned on his side so that he was gazing into her beautiful stormy eyes. “You think that things have changed because I haven’t put any moves on you.” He paused. “When I thought that you didn’t want me to put the moves on you.”
A smile graced her lips. “You make it sound…”
“Do you think that I don’t want to?”
She opened her mouth then clamped it shut. “Because that is the furthest from the truth. I have to take a cold shower every night because I am always overheating whenever I’m around you.” He pulled a careless hand through his hair although his eyes never left hers. And then he was moving closer. To his surprise as well as delight she did not back off but stood her ground. “I’m going to…”
Victoria didn’t give him time to finish that sentence as she pressed her lips to his in order to receive his kiss. At the last possible second, she closed her eyes as Nick thoroughly explored her mouth with a hunger that could no longer be contained.

Author Sandra Bonaldi of Nutley has a two-fold offering in her latest novel, “Midnight Magic.”
The book itself is a nicely written contemporary romantic story, and since it highlights domestic abuse within the pages, it also contains at the end of the book important information on domestic violence, warning signs, the facts, and research data from the Bureau of Justice Statistics, resources, national telephone numbers “for immediate assistance” and planning for safety.
Bonaldi’s “Midnight Magic,” a readable love story with major complications, concerns two people, Nick Roland, an account executive in an automobile dealership, who moved from Brick to an apartment in a town outside of Nutley, and Victoria Benson, who also resides in the same apartment house. She recently broke up with her lover, Max Mendes, due to an abusive relationship, which left her drained – and with child.
It appears that Nick, himself, has been estranged from an unfaithful lover. And when he meets Victoria, he falls desperately in love with her. It’s a complex situation all right, and if “Midnight Magic” sounds like a soap opera; it does more than that. It reads like one. It also has some intriguing characters. Actually, the book has its suspenseful moments, especially when the angry abusive Max comes after Victoria – with a vengeance.
But Bonaldi knows how to bring her characters to life – and to touch on a reader’s interest and sympathy. There also are many interesting supporting characters that befriend both Nick and Victoria. The author’s first book, “One Enchanted Evening,” also had its enchanting moments.
One wonders what her next novel will be about.

This book really kept me entertained. It was very easy to read and I never found myself getting confused in the plot. I found the heroine to be complex and interesting. She is the type of heroine that I feel like a lot of women could relate to when it comes to abuse. Her reactions to events in her life were completely realistic and I found myself feeling very sympathetic toward her and wishing her only the best. She is also a very strong woman, someone women can look up to. With all of the tragic events that she goes through she manages to keep her head up. The way the ex is portrayed in this novel is truly scary, as well as a little bit sad. We see him in dangerous light but we can also see where he could be any normal guy who is doing these things without realizing the harm he is causing. The intense moments of danger throughout this book made me feel paranoid myself. It’s shocking to think that events like this really do happen and that there are people out there dealing with these sorts of things everyday. It gave me a new insight into the problems of abuse and how it can affect someone’s everyday life. This book is a very sweet romance that is engaging and entertaining as well as shocking and disturbing. It gives hope that there can be a relationship that will help fix everything the previous one broke. This novel is perfect for someone who is looking for a romance that does not have sex scenes and where the relationship is based on something more substantial. This is a romance that makes you feel good. It’s a victory for anyone who has been abused or even suffered through a bad breakup. I would definitely recommend this novel for anyone looking for a good romance to read.
