Screw It!

Category:  Arts/Entertainment
Type: Non-Fiction

“Screw It,” is about the entertainment industry. Particularly, how it demands that a script be filled with sex and/or violence. Without these aspects your work will not be read by a producer, let alone see the light of day on any screen.

I’ve been writing for over thirty years in Hollywood. This may go with out saying, but William Townsley is not my real name…Nor, will I tell you what it really is, in fear of retaliation from my fellow writers. Where was I, oh yeah! During those years I met some great writers, and some not so great writers. That may not sound too impressive, because it wasn’t meant to, the point is both types have one thing in common; they both had to submit their work to a producer. It doesn’t matter what road either took to get their script in the hands of the all mighty, but the script still had to land smack dab in the producers hands, grab his/her interest within the first few lines, and hold his/her attention throughout. The writer has to know three things about the producer in order to achieve this. First, he/she, has to know the producers movie/television genre. Second, their political and sexual orientation, (to me these go hand in hand). Third, he must be able to influence those gatekeepers blocking your access to the all mighty. Without these three things no one will attract the attention their manuscript deserves, either bad or good.

So, that is what my book is about, how you as a writer can write a screenplay that not only grabs the producers attention, but eventually makes it onto the big screen. Sex, and Violence in today’s society is a must in anything you submit. Yes, twist and turns play their role, and cheap theatrics repel an audience and not attract. In, Screw It! I will show you how to display Sex and Violence tastefully, without appearing cheap, or pornographic. The biggest asset a writer has is themselves, their own imagination and their ability to portray an idea. However, if the screenplay never makes it to the producer the story is lost in the swirling pit of countless manuscripts burning in the perpetual furnace of oblivion.

I hope you read my book when it comes out in mid to late September. I am sure beyond all doubt it will help anyone.
