Excerpt
The eMarketing tools in this document are designed to help you formulate a digital marketing plan. This document is not, in itself, a marketing plan; it is an introduction to the tools of electronic marketing and resources that you can pick and choose from to develop an eMarketing plan tailored to your specific needs.
This document does not cover non-digital areas such as print advertising, trade shows, or television and radio campaigns. These are all effective mediums for getting your message out when theyre done right, but they all have one thing in common: theyre expensive.
Online marketing ranges from free to astronomically expensive, but most of the tools in this document focus on the free to inexpensive end of the spectrum. A few (such as web site development) can be moderately expensive, but are still far more economical than a small $25,000 ad in a major national newspaper.
To take advantage of these techniques, youll need:
1. An Internet connection
2. An email program
3. A web site
4. Time

From Business and Careers - TCM Reviews
eMarketing Tools for Writers is a comprehensive listing of marketing resources on the internet. Each set of ideas includes a short explanation or a variety of different tips and then lists links that either discusses these topics in further detail or websites that provide this particular service. Topics include the usual emarketing topics such as tips for website design; making the best use of keywords, metatags, and search engines; using email signatures for ongoing promotion; and the creation of banners for advertising. However, a large portion of this book examines less obvious promotional techniques such as participating or creating forums, blogs, newsgroups, ezines, electronic newsletters, RSS feeds, and contests as well as making full use of podcasting and internet radio.
eMarketing Tools for Writers is suitable for those new to emarketing as well as those emarketers looking for a few fresh ideas. Moreover, these methods can be used for both those people with online businesses who depend almost entirely on internet marketing and those individuals who want to increase their promotional efforts for their brick and mortar businesses. eMarketing Tools for Writers, 2nd Edition by Biff Mitchell is available at Fictionwise.

From The Resource Girl
Biff's marketing book has been such a great help to me. I have recently written a book and although that is something to be proud of, really the work begins after the book is finished.
The work begins on how to get the word out there when you don't have an important publisher.
Biff has compiled in his marketing book so many ways that you can publicize your book for free.
I love that. I love the fact that he did all the research about blogs, newsgroups, podcasting, radio on the internet shows and more.
He gives you all the addresses so that you can go straight to what you need. No more spending hours trying to figure out where to go, because Biff has already done that for you.
It has been a great resource and I am eager to put his help to work.

An Alternative View
EMarketing Tools for Writers ~ Biff Mitchell
Cutting edge strategies for the eMarketing virgin. Improve your site stats and book sales without moving from your computer!
This is an introduction to the electronic marketing tools and resources that are available for you to use to promote anything. Biff emphasises that the tools discussed in this book are either free or inexpensive. There are only 4 simple requirements:
1. Internet
2. An email programme
3. A website
4. Time
If you are reading this, I suspect you already have 3 out of 4 of the above and all you need is the know-how to master the Internet and influence your book sales, or whatever it is you want to endorse. The author Biff Mitchell, classes eMarketing Tools for Writers as a beginners guide, but I for one, not new to the ways of the world wide web learnt new tips and discovered resources I either hadnât heard of or didnât quite understand, until now. Thanks to Mr Mitchellâs clearly defined categories, each section in this book is supplied with invaluable links directing you to other resources, detailed articles and appropriate websites all geared to increase your knowledge further.
âThere are hundreds of people out there, all searching for something of interest. So what better way to promote your book or website, than to give some of this content away for freeâ. Biff Mitchell explains how this technique can be manipulated to encourage people to return for more, attracting new people to your site along the way!
According to Biff, âThatâs the key to successful eMarketing: attracting people, getting people to know that youâre there with something of value to offerâ.
I must impress this book is in no way an exhaustive list of possibilities for marketing through the Internet, as eMarketing can be studied to degree level. However, for a beginner, I found the marketing tools such as media releases, podcasting, forums, blogs, newsgroups, Internet radio, email and others (phew!) were explained in an easy to understand manner, without skimping on detail. This is the first eMarketing book I have read, so, although I may not be an expert on the subject before I received this book, I can honestly say I feel like one now!
I will be putting my new-found eMarketing skills into practice and Iâm aiming to increase my âAlternative Viewâ yahoo group subscribers â (Iâve already had two new members today!) What about you? How will you make Biff Mitchell work for YOU? If your product or service is something to shout about, you owe it to yourself to buy this book and work on the strategies supplied. I donât normally quote prices, as they are subject to change, however, at $1.35 (as at todayâs date) I could hardly refuse! Where else could an eMarketing virgin get invaluable information as such a low price?
Also, as links often have a short lifespan, Biff Mitchell offers a free newsletter service, where you will receive link updates to this 3rd edition and all future editions. By the way, these tools are only as effective as the amount of time and effort you put into using them. So it will be of no surprise to hear that included in these newsletter updates will be details of Biffâs other books and promotions of course. But if youâve bought eMarketing Tools for Writers you will already know that â she says, tapping the side of her nose with a knowing, smug look!
