If I may speculate again, that sometime in the mid-1920's, people began reporting a vision on the property and in the rooms of the Castle: a woman in white, ghostly and silent. She is seen enough to cause more than idle speculation among some of the elder members of Geneva, those old enough to remember scraps of earlier legends. Something about tunnels and buried gold. A passage to the lake, and an older house that once stood on this property, and oh yes… something about a beautiful opera singer.
Maybe it wasn't such a leap to relate a new ending to the actual story. If there really was a ghost of a beautiful woman in a white dress trapped here, and at other times singing was even heard, it only made sense that she was that opera singer. All that remained would be to guess as to how she died.
