Meet David and Virginia Spectral, your average couple who never really believed in the paranormal world. That is, until they were visited by an apparition. Now, after the chaos that ensued in the first book, David and Virginia return in another paranormal adventure to help their ghostly friend JoJo travel down into the depths of the unknown to locate their friend Paul Williamson's wife. Rather, her spirit. Together, they work in gathering their team, the Seekers of the Unknown, to watch over them as their spirits leave their bodies in search of their friend's wife, Ruth.

They seek help from Dr. Kendrick, an unusual doctor who practices even more unusual medicines. A man which believes greatly in the paranormal existence. He will help the Spectrals in a way they would have never guessed; by killing them. In a funeral home located in Kansas, the Spectrals will have 24 hours to complete the task of rescuing Ruth. The doctor will use all of his ingenious methods to put the Spectrals into a state of death. As their spirits leave their bodies and pass into the world of no return, they find that they will have to battle their way through in order to save their dear friend.

As they battle on, they meet someone, or something, they would wish they hadn't; Samonia, the head demon of this realm. A demon more powerful then they could have imagined, a demon who is fueled by fear. The Spectrals find that they must overcome Samonia in order to save Ruth, and soon realize that he may have been involved in her disappearance from the start.
