From page 165-Barton reined Knight so sharply Sara nearly fell. Before them whirled a tornado of dirt, debris and rock. Smaller than any Sara had ever seen or heard of, it topped out at about 30 feet. Beyond it opened a black maw of nothingness. Deep stabs of fear convulsed Sara's belly...the sandstone walls seemed to be falling inward by varying degrees. Sara prayed it was a trick of diminishing light. Barton's strong form was her foundation and she held onto him as tightly as she could, trying to see where he headed the horse.
