I knew when I got the call there was going to be trouble. Helen wasn't one to chat on the phone unless she had to and she wasn't going to run up a bill calling from California unless it was absolutely necessary. The storm made hearing her the challenge of the day. Through the crackles I could make out something about "horrible" and "arrested" and "please come,Katie." Please come meant get on a plane and fly to Los Angeles, but I wasn't sure how it fit in with "horrible" and "arrested" until the crackles died down and I heard her cry, "Lanie didn't do it! You know she couldn't do a thing like that!" I said, "Like what?" And she answered, "They've arrested her, Katie! They say she murdered him!"
Then the line went dead.

A Star in Ascendancy
For those who like whodunnits, Murder in the Movies is a must! Luttrell's electric wit and her familiarity with the people who inhabit Hollywood make this novel a delight to read. Writing as Katlin Wallace, Ms. Luttrell grabs the reader's interest in the very first paragraph and doesn't let it go for the entire 300 pages. As the plot unfolds, the author's personal experience in the movie-making industry shines through with every turn of her heroine's rental Toyota. It's a lively ride!

Just finished MURDER IN THE MOVIES, loved it. Did not want to put it down. I feel I know more about California and the movie business. I think Katlin is another Stephanie Plum. When is book #2?
One I had to make time for.
Normally the nose is in some tech manual or writing one. Seldom is there a book that provides an easy read with interest, detail, and colorful characters. Live in Florida travel thru and to LA frequently. With little knowledge of either location the reader can relate to Katlin Wallace as she travels about. The characters are honest people you meet through a life time of living. Enjoyable read for the logical thinker.
