"Hello Bishop."
"How are things at school, Beverly? I hear you've got a young man on the line?"
"Now Bishop, don't believe everything you read in the ward newsletter." Yes, reeling him in as fast as I can. Might have to harpoon him to get him in the boat.
"Aunt Helen! I haven't seen you since the last family reunion."
"I don't get around very well anymore. Don't get out much. Carol and Gene were good enough to bring me." She patted Beverly's hand. "Looks like you'll be next."
"You never know." Next funeral that's what I'm going to say to you.
Beverly sighed. I can't answer anymore questions. She put down the plate with her half-eaten piece of wedding cake, picked up the bouquet, and slipped out the side door of the cultural hall that led to the backside of the church building. Leaning against the brick wall in the dark, all the emotions of the day caught up with her, and she let the tears flow. The picture of the Maid of Honor out behind the church in her lavender dress, holding the bouquet, crying in the night, never made it into the wedding album.
