A Staunch Hunter
A staunch hunter in the wild proved his skill,
on tour, he met delays against his will.
He moseyed down set traps in the sedge patch.
A new dawn brought yearnings to view his catch.
In this deserted wasteland, wild animals roam;
when the catch is made the smell brings them home.
The kill provides wild animals warm meals
so, somehow the aroma he must conceal.
The find takes time to prepare and serve.
This great meal of fatty beavers reserved
for family and guests evening dinner.
Its enjoyed by all and a great winner.
When the day’s done and there’s naught to be said
under the bright stars he lays his head.
Thanks Almighty God for His protecting hand
on his catch in this unmerciful land.
In all his endeavors his God was there
like a personal friend embraced in prayer.
God never forsook him, His promises’ true.
He’ll abide when trust in Him we accrue.
