Paranormal romance filled with intrigue, suspense, a brotherhood of vampires intent on justice, and a romance author that has her world turned upside down by the macabre!
I wrote torrid historical romances for a living.
I’d be the first to admit writing was my love. Through the pages of a novel, I could live in a realm clouded by daydreams and fantasy. I preferred to exist in a world filled with imagination---where life ended with that eternal Happily Ever After.
Reality didn't prepare me for the horror I witnessed on a cold September night.
He had died in my arms, the victim of a vicious and brutal crime.
I would never forget his gasping words or the molten gold of his eyes. He held my hand in his icy tough as that final gasp of breath escaped his lips.
Haunted, I left the city soon afterward, tormented by his handsome image.
I had been with him when he died.
Then, why, was he on my doorstep?

“Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!” I grumbled as I pulled the latch back on the door and swung it open. “You can quiet down, Detective Kureyev. You should have called from the precinct, you know! I had left you the numbers to both places. I didn't imagine you had any difficulty in finding me….”
The rest of the words froze on my lips as I stared, wide-eyed, at the figure standing on the porch. A roaring sound filled my ears and a series of black dots began to viciously dance in wicked disarray before my eyes. The room spun off-kilter and my knees wobbled as I continued to stare at my early morning visitor.
I was going mad. I couldn't concentrate as a wave of bone quaking apprehensiveness, followed by torturous flush of heat, flooded me. The roar in my ears intensified. My hand shot out and I grasped at the flapping tails of what had been a silk shirt, iciness far colder than the night seeping from my caller's flesh.
“Welcome me into your home, Genevieve.”
I recognized the sound of my strangely pronounced name. My wide eyes flew upwards, filled with horror and disbelief. I began to crumble, my body trembling with a shock I believed forgotten. My fingers tangled in the torn fabric and my mind reeled.
“I….” It was a struggle to form the question, my tongue incredibly thick in my mouth.
“For some unexplained reason, Genie, I cannot cross the thresh hold.”
“W….welcome?”
“I suppose that will be sufficient.” My visitor breathed in a voice I would never forget.
Before me stood the man that had died in my arms.
