FRACTURED TRANSCENDENCE explores the lives of characters engaged in an evolving world. A quarter century into the new millennium people are experiencing a quantum leap in empathy, understanding, and psychic abilities.
Can we change who we are? Can the ethical and moral standard of humanity be raised by genetic evolution? A quarter century into the new millennium people are experiencing a quantum leap in empathy, understanding, and psychic abilities. Ordinary people are having difficulty comprehending the extraordinary manifestations which uninhibited belief can bring into reality. A smear and fear campaign begins to run rampant. The rate at which the transformation is spreading has alarmed the general public. Misinformation along with government propaganda has led to a massive quarantine. Internment camps are set up and quickly become sadistic and abusive, turning patients into prisoners. The entire nation is on edge as civil liberties are violated in the name of public health and safety. The road to human transcendence is cracked and broken; fractured by our inability to accept and understand.

I was only a kid, but I was there when it all began. I was there the night Gill Talbert gave the speech which shook the world and started the Evolt moment.
No one had heard of an Evolt then. No one suspected the human way of life was about to change. It changed me. The events of that evening led me to this empathic ability of understanding allowing me to sit in the soul of other people and view their lives – Elijah Taylor
Chapter One;
The Presentation
No one knew what lured the speaker to this venue. His audience however, was drawn by curiosity and fear. They had heard stories of his performance and his bizarre ideals. The lecturer had no fancy lights or Power Point presentation, only his message. Some called it a coupling with God. Others swore his rhetoric was inspired by Lucifer. Whichever, Gill Talbert aroused controversy everywhere he traveled.
The speaker eyed the crowd. He knew there was no way they were prepared for what was to happen. Still, there were a few who might comprehend. The man stepped into the light focused on the solid oak podium. His hands rested on its sides with a firm, stable grip. It was time.
He sighed. It made no difference if the world was ready or not. The change would come. It was time for the hiding to uncover their eyes and begin to seek.
“Life as we know it,” he began, “is merely illusion. I know you have heard this before, and I know you both believe it, and disbelieve it. This kind of contradiction is an honest reaction to such a concept. The existence we experience seems like such a silly game, that at times, it is truly hard to accept it as real. Yet the reality of a physical body in a solid, tangible world is hard to deny.
“Still, despite the undeniable, it is the intangible things that are hardest to cope with... the thoughts and emotions… the stress and strains… the heartbreaks. We cannot touch sorrow… but we can certainly feel it. We cannot grab a hold of depression and despair. If we could, we would take these things, chain them up, and cast them into the ocean, anything to be rid of them forever.
“Our physical senses have been blind to the most valuable aspects of life, but now... a new age has arrived! We are on the verge of a new level of perception! Soon the human race will recognize for the first time love... acceptance... and understanding!
“I know this not only through my research as a scientist, but through personal experience. I know this because I have evolved. I left the simple limited views of humanities past, and stepped upon the platform of the saints. I have become the hands of God.”
The speaker paused. His dark, keen eyes scanned the crowd again. Here it comes. He thought to himself. This is the point where communication decays and empathy flies out the window, embarrassed by its lack of comprehension. You can question certain aspects of life but don’t you dare try to give an answer.
Answers must be tried out and etched into the walls of society.
Gill Talbert was not a part of society. Not in the way of the indoctrinated fools who sought truth as a packaged tangible item. ‘Give me a pound of whole truth and a quart of regurgitated, processed dreams please. God forbid I should dream on my own.
His solid facade held an esoteric strength, a look of prophetic power as he gazed into the eyes of his listeners. He could sense hostility and saw it in the eyes of a self righteous man. A deep red aural glow flashed in Gill’s mind and carried him back to a time before his enlightenment.
He supposed enlightenment was as good a word as any to describe the changes in his perceptual awareness. His new understanding of life and the visions he had of a fire filled future could also be a part of that definition. Could he guide the evolving race through the savage events to come and bring about a new age? It was this purpose alone that brought sparkling colors to his electric aura, though none in this crowd could see them.
Gill Jonathan Talbert had been an average American kid until that night his mind and soul expanded and unified. The energy of the omniverse tempered his heart and revealed his task. He was average other than the fact he had put himself through Notre Dame University earning a Ph. D. in physics and psychology as well as a Masters in philosophy and comparative religions. He was a Normal Jones to his classmates and peers, always ready for a laugh and a beer.
It was in spring just before he was to graduate, that Gill met Barb Dancer at an all night keg party. Their romance was immediate and all encompassing; two lunatics under a full moon. Had their romance begun any earlier in the semester neither would have graduated, but as it was, Gill received honors. The NRC offered Gill a position which he refused in favor of homesteading with Barb in northwestern Canada.
Life was glorious. His days with Barb were exceptional. There were no goals, revelations, commitments, or contact with the outside world. They had released themselves from the shackles and fetters of society, he and his lovely lady Barb.
Had Gill not been revitalized that night in the Andes, atop Mount Aconcagua, he might still be a victim of his pain. His mind’s eye could see her cuddled in a blanket, naked in front of the blazing warmth of their fireplace. He could see her dark, thick hair hanging in ringlets as she pounded nails into the small log cabin they had built. He saw her body silhouetted as she gazed into a star filled sky. She turned to him, her eyes distant, yet luminous. Those days were gone.
A strange fatigue began to develop in her bones, her mouth parched and dry. Her small frame became feather light as she passed water recurrently.
Gill cursed himself for not having that radio flown in with their supplies. Their purveyor had insisted, offering the unit at no charge, but Gill refused. He was determined they would live like true pioneers. Barb imagined some day she would publish her journal. Their second winter on this mountain was creeping up, and as it approached, Barb’s strength waned.
Even as he spoke, Gill felt the memory, the pain of that final kiss. He told Barb, his beautiful Barb, not to worry. He would hike down the mountain and get a doctor flown in, a couple of days time at the most. He lied to her.
How could he have been prepared for the snow so early in the season... the God-damned snow... the wind freezing his body and slowing his way?
By the time he returned to their Shangri-La homestead Barb was dead. Her pancreas had malfunctioned. She died from complication caused by ketoacidosis. Her kidneys had failed. Her brain filled with fluid resulting in a cerebral edema and low blood pressure had her on the verge of heart attack, all the result of type-one diabetes.
Diabetes! Are you kidding me! That was controllable …wasn’t it? There are millions of people with diabetes and they’re alive! Why Barb? Was it his fault? Was he too blind, too much in love? He tried to leave the foolish problems of humanity behind, but the nature of humanity had sought him out with a vengeance. No one can escape! They had dreamed to leave the world behind and live alone, but only Barb left the world, leaving him to live as he had wished, alone.
Now, he could look back and see the hand of fate, but those days were hell. For years he wandered south through the Rocky Mountains, hiking hopefully to his death. The trees and sky, and life itself had no essence, no meaning. He was only vapor, a mist of insubstantial existence. Reason eluded him. Driven southward in despair, walking on the edge of sanity.
Perhaps, he felt he could hike to the place Barb had gone, or maybe God would pity him. Maybe He would return her image. Gill always felt Barb was nearby feasibly dancing with a laughing God, hanging her presence in the trees, and wrapping her spirit around him as the wind, rain, and sky. Tears marked his footfalls as some invidious kismet pulled him south... south... relentlessly south... to the jungles of the Andes and the lost homes of mystical Indian tribes.
It may have been the endless suffering... the lack of food, water, and sleep, or the inspiration of an ancient race which sparked Gill’s mind. Who is to say why the grand metamorphosis began. The explosion of evolutionary transmutation could not be denied or ignored. Soul, body, and spirit combined into a cohesive whole. For the first time in Gill Talbert’s life he was unbroken, intact, yet he realized he was still only half full. His potential was like a germinating seed breaking out of the soil to feel sunlight for the first time. There was so much further to grow before blossoming.
Clouds of stars above the jungle radiated with a conscious energy. He could feel an omnipresent awareness as it burned through his skull in a single shaft of wisdom; Gill awoke. All of his knowledge in quantum mechanics, psychology, and religion mushroomed in a nova of enhanced perception. Time and space coalesced and revealed itself to Gill in an intuitive flash. This was his birth.... Born again... a multi-sensory human... Love and Understanding were revealed in a consummate equation of perfection.
It is time damn it... time for a new age to begin.... an age capable of employing those words and revealing them to the future with profound actions... time to understand understanding... to propagate wisdom and unfold the true potential of humanity.
Gill Jonathan Talbert saw multifarious icons of destiny in the human choices. Could he guide his race away from the tempest, and into the safe harbor of evolution? This embrace with Universal Mind could indeed be the catalyst to induce man and womankind to the acts which would preserve the planet.
The illuminated man returned home to find a healthy inheritance waiting for him. Immediately, he began traveling to lecture halls and universities giving speeches and displays of his evolved nature. It did not take long for the tabloids to begin publishing events surrounding Gill. The Star devoted an entire edition to the story of how he cured young Jenny Balimere of leukemia. They called it a miracle… Perhaps they were right, but changing distorted frequencies and vibrations back to normal, healthy patterns was something any evolved person could accomplish, would accomplish.
Yes, it is time for the guardians of Mother Earth to take seriously their roles and responsibilities... to raise themselves up to the next step on the evolutionary ladder... time for a spiritual conscious revelation of what we are in the universe; the hands of God.
This was why Gill was here, to reveal truths, and yet people feared him. They feared his views because they were new... untried. They feared his actions because they could not understand. Was he Christ, or Anti-Christ? Was he man, mutant, or a demon from hell? Soon the world would know.
His presentation continued…
“All that we are, or feel, or see, is waveforms. Everything is condensed energy. We are energy! We are living, thinking energy, constantly creating the world with our beliefs. We have evil, because we believe in evil. We have hate, because we believe in hate. These concepts have been fed the energy of our belief for over three millenniums. This is the apple which sent us out of Eden. This is our devil! We have created him, using the energy, the God within us. We have been given the tools of God, and we have created Hell!
“Until now, we have not been able to see the power within the vibratory energy of collective thought. Beliefs are truths. We as cognizant, reasoning beings have created all things in a mass refinement of belief. Our Maker has granted us free will, and we have chosen hell over heaven.”
Gill spoke with passion now, inspired by truth and hope.
“If we so choose, we can touch the hatred, and cruelty in the world. We can transform the waste of the past, into a beacon of light. We have found the evil in the world, and it is our Selves. We can begin to believe, convert our foolishness into wisdom, and evolve.”
Despite his intense enthusiasm Gill could sense the animosity in the crowd. A presentation of death was held in the eyes of a neurotic in the second row, but Gill could not stop now.
“Belief is the key to miracles. Christ knew this. You can make miracles happen with the strength, and power of your belief!”
Tampering with people’s belief systems is a delicate... a dangerous task. Truth... Gill knew, had no other name, although fresh icons must stand alongside the symbols of the past. Still, old images die hard. The efficacy of a believer is the ability to cling to faith.
“This is the way we manifest the power of God’s energy within us. When our souls cry out to God in single minded belief minute waveforms are projected from our being. These frequencies interact with the subatomic particles of matter. Energy is altered by belief and converted into truth and reality. This is how it works... belief... pure unadulterated belief. This unites all religions and frees us from prejudice. We subject ourselves to bias when we put a name to the power of belief. The impetus of conviction has worked throughout the ages with ten thousand different names. It is belief which allows the unimaginable to be imagined, and then be conceived and brought into reality
“Jesus knew this. Belief is the way He came to teach us. He was in a sense, an evolutionary mutant. Only now, after two thousand years are we beginning to assimilate. Only now are we learning to become what He wanted us to be. Only We... only You can save the world.”
“Science is discovering that the entire universe is nothing more than frequencies and vibrations; energy packets acting as particles. Matter and energy are equal. Let there be light…
“He allowed energy to be condensed into the forms which we are All things are made from the same Source. The forms appear different like water, ice, and steam, but the essence is the same. There is only One Element. It… He is intrinsic in the very nature of all things.
“The image we personify as God is the ONLY thing that really exists. All things are made of God! Every thought, every feeling within you, is God.
“You have been given the freedom to control these minute God forms within you; to bend, and mold into any shape you desire. It seems ironic to me that people mold thoughts into ideas, which suggest there is no God. Silly Humans! You are using God… to say there is no God!
Some in the audience found the words of Gill Talbert to be intriguing, some even considered the concepts fascinating, but many only heard the words their minds could grasp. They heard blasphemy.
“Look at your Selves now. Look into your hearts and souls. I can see anger and misunderstanding radiating in your auras. Is this what you choose to do with the power within you? Is this what you would do to God? You speak of reverence and faith and then take almighty God and turn him into a raging devil. You are the same hypocrites Christ pitied before they murdered him.
“Damn it! We must realize that our thoughts create the world. Our emotions are linked to the Creator. When you allow these essential elements to be manipulated by the media, or restricted by your bibles; when you take free will, free thought, and regulate it by presubscribed standards, you limit Godhood. You turn heaven into hell. Freedom gives way to accepted slavery, and whatever idea you have of a loving, benevolent deity mutates into the abomination of life you so despise!
“We can be free! We can be as Christ. Finally, the power is revealed as….”
The sound of gun shots filled the hall. Gill Talbert’s head exploded as he dropped to the floor.
“I have saved us all.” The crazed gunman danced among the panicked crowd. Security quickly wrestled him to the ground. “I have destroyed the Anti-Christ!”
People screamed and ran in every direction as chaos erupted. Yet it took only moments to settle things down and a stunned assembly left the building. They spoke in confusion and in fear. Most were trying to make sense of what they had seen and what they had heard. Still, some narrowed events down to fit their perspective.
“It doesn’t surprise me none,” one man said to his wife, “comparing himself to our Lord Jesus Christ.”
“May God forgive him,” an elderly woman wept.
“He was asking for death,” one man stated.
A young man turned back. “I’d liked ta had seen some of them there miracles he said he could do,”
“Only miracles you’d see from that man, son” a big man with a cowboy hat replied, “would have been the devil’s magic”
One woman looked to the evening sky as she walked away. “God, his words felt good, like he was near to you, or to the truth.” She sighed, “I guess we just aren’t ready for such things yet.”
The bewildered crowd walked into the night wondering if they had witnessed destiny, an act of God, or the embodiment of humanity’s confusion.
I remember the feelings walking out of the hall that night. Everyone figured Talbert was dead. That event led us to this mountain shelter in Montana as we wait for the nuke to drop from the sky and wipe the Evolt movement from the face of the earth. - Elijah Taylor-
Chapter Two:
This is Your Death
Gill heard the shot and knew it implied death, his death. He saw a flash not unlike the one that sparked his illumination of life, yet this one spoke death, his death.
Death! It was presented to him as a possession he was about to receive. Here is your death Gill Talbert. It is yours for all eternity. Death for life... an unavoidable and permanent trade.... life for death... breath for rot... the two cannot swim in the same sea.
Yet once... before awareness... evolution gave life to the land... the land that had previously meant only death to the creatures of the sea. Now, beyond awareness, Gill was comparable to those early amphibians... land or sea... life or death... the choice was his!
Matter or mind... body or soul? We are condensed balls of latent energy... release thySelf!
Life is a concept of mind... guns and bullets merely a concept of life. They are a manifested image of thought... created for the purpose of death. Gill could see the progressive powers from body, to mind, to soul. This knowledge should not be kept from the human race simply because the fools refused to realize it. The concept must be presented in terms they understand.
Gill felt the impact of death hit his face just below the left eye. He was aware of the blood splattering the podium and drapes behind him.
Pain? No, this was nothing compared to the pain of losing Barb.
Barb! He knew he could find her here, moving through the vibrating particles of life and time. She would be waiting to guide him through the wonders of omniscience.
The bullet dissolved in his cranium before it began to penetrate the folds of his brain, but the shock transported his spirit to this tranquil haven.
“Perhaps,” he thought, “I will stay here while they bandage my wound.” He laughed at himself, and the simple concept of reconstructing cells. His story was written by God and fate. Gill Talbert was not the first of a new race. There were many before him who had experienced this quantum leap in evolution. Still, he knew he was the first of many who would encounter this transformation.
He knew there would be many people confused and upset. The attempts on his life could become frequent. This unfolding of humanity would represent a liability in the conventional understanding of the universe. It was a break in the steady mechanistic flow of physics. There would be those who would call his choice for life miraculous, a miracle. His life would be reckoned to supernatural or paranormal circumstance. Some would call him Satin, others would call him God. “Oh well,” he thought. “I guess the game begins here.”
Talbert was now Schrodinger’s cat, Wigner’s friend. He opened a cage of paradox to observe himself alive within, despite its’ deadly contents. The bullet which was to have killed him was a tachyon wave of probability, now intangible, disregarding any other alternate river of time.
“Gil...!” The voice was soft and ambient. It intoned powerful oscillations of Love. Barb had come for him.
Within his state of transcendent peace he did not see the headlines in the tabloids: ANTICHRIST SURVIVES FATAL SHOOTING!
I can see Paul Adams from where I’m standing. My gifts allow me to see his entire life. No one has gone through more than Paul to bring about this transformation. If we are to survive today it is because of the belief fostered by this man. - Elijah Taylor-
Chapter Three;
A Quantum Leap
Paul Adams tapped the designing table with his pencil. His mind was playing the melody he had worked on with his band the previous evening. “And we’re living to die, and we’re wondering why, it’s just around the corner. And we’re living in sin, and we cannot begin, to get things back in order.”
“Too damn depressing,” he thought. “There has to be a better way of expressing this feeling without hanging a cloud of doom over people’s heads. I’m gonna have to change the chorus again.
His mind came back to the software design on his table. He had worked for National Semiconductor for eight years now. Paul had established himself as one of the top computer software designers in the county. Microsoft had approached Paul many times with lucrative offers, as had NCR and IBM. He had proven himself not only a superior performer with software, but also quite prolific in his knowledge of hardware.
Despite his success, he was bored with the whole thing. He wanted to be involved with something spiritually significant, something with ascetic value which might radically affect society. True, some of his recent programs were beneficial to the physically challenged. He had designed software interfaces, and internet protocols which allowed the end user to read and write without needing a mouse or keyboard. He had helped to revolutionize the banking industry, and created apps to tie cell phones, ipads, and television to the internet. Still, he felt his contributions could be greater. He felt it when he spoke with people, how they would listen and walk away refreshed. There was a feeling in his heart of insurmountable intensity, which he could not define.
After Paul’s father died the pursuit for financial success seemed frivolous. The old man’s obsession for money was not sustained by his son, although Paul’s fiancée continued to push him. His father had been dead for nearly a year now. His wedding was less than two weeks away.
Paul threw down his pencil, and moved in the direction of the coffee machine. He couldn’t help thinking he was making a mistake with his life. Debbie was a wonderful woman. He couldn’t complain about her. She was bright, and beautiful. She was truly everything a man could want. His job was great. He had achieved a level of performance, and excellence that most men could only dream of. Paul was the envy of his peers.
So why did he have this bizarre desire for some extraneous elevated goal? What was the relentless need drawing him, the lure that burned in the remote sectors of his being? It was not money. It wasn’t as evident as the essential need for love, and acceptance. No, it was a deeper... intangible image of knowledge... a lust for spiritual intimacy with the soul.
“How’s it goin' Paul,” Tom Tormac, a colleague pulled Paul from his thoughts as he handed the engineer a cup of coffee.
“It’s goin’ Tee, same old shit.”
“Hey, you got nothin' to worry about,” Tee laughed as he stirred cream and Sweet ‘n Low into his brew. “In a couple of weeks you’ll be sailin' away with that hot little lady of yours.”
Paul blew the steam away from his cup, a look of indifference overtaking his facade. “Yeah,” he answered sipping his coffee allowing the interruption to change his face complimenting the bitterness of the brew.
“She still into that Foundation Christian Movement thing of hers, Tom asked not really interested.
“Yeah, I guess she is,” Paul heard himself answer. He cringed inside when he remembered he had promised Debbie to attend a Fellowship meeting with her tonight.
“You better get her out of that shit quick,” Tom laughed again. “She might decide to become celibate or something.” Tormac left the room pleased with himself.
Paul Adams had to shake his head and laugh. Debbie a celibate? Not a woman with her sexual appetite. Still, there was something about this crazy Fellowship thing he didn’t like. He had tried to join in on this compulsion which had overtaken her life. He even considered this might be the need he was missing, but its redundant doctrine just could not bring him fulfillment.
It made Debbie happy and he supposed that was enough.
Paul had been indoctrinated with Christian concepts since he was young. The great truths in the bible now seemed old and worn. It was as if the visions of Christ had been held in the eyes of mankind for too long, and the tears of humanity had washed away some essential element of understanding.
Kri Yoga and meditation provided him with some comfort, although he studied Taoism, Hinduism, and Zen. He read the Korean, the Bhagavad-Gita, the Upanishads, and endless biographies of sacred teachers. Paul Samuel Adams had come to the conclusion the true religious experience came to every human in a personal and private way. His was an intimate, almost sexual union with God, but it came to him rarely after hours of deep meditation. Life did not always allow such intrusions. This kind of fusion with the universe is something the children of earth seldom aspire to. So still, he sought truth.
The truth shall set you free! Paul laughed to himself. Christian concepts could only define truth as acceptance and faith, and yet they suggest it can supply something as indefinable as freedom.
“Hold it,” he whispered under his breath. “I’m being hypercritical again. I’ll go tonight with an open mind… I just wish they were more open. Stop it! He continued to wrestle with his thoughts.
The inquisitive engineer sat back on a couch in the break room. He kicked up his feet, and picked up a magazine. The headline made him laugh. ANTICHRIST SURVIVES FATAL SHOOTING.
The article told of a physicist named Gill Talbert, who claimed to be the next step in human evolution. He had performed miracles. Miracles he claimed were nothing more than feeling out and adjusting ambient wave forms of subatomic particles. The mind, he claimed, has the ability to generate packets of energy. These power packets can then be arranged and configured into clusters. The quantum bundles can then move, or even become matter.
Talbert suggested while his knowledge allowed him to understand the process, it was not an essential component to make the operation function. This was the method used by Christ to effect miracles, an ability inherent in us all.
The physicist called Christ an evolutionary mutant; more than an image to worship, but an image to become. He claimed all of humanity would one day be capable of these manipulations of matter. He spoke of faith as a thought frequency radiating in a quantum state, waiting to resonate with belief. These mind waves have the ability to move matter and manifest desire... faith smaller than a mustard seed... yet waiting on the edge of existence to move mountains. Split an atom, and we know damn well a mountain will move. The truth shall set you free.
These powers have existed in the human race for many centuries. They have been used without knowledge, leaking out from gathered masses. People with potent mental needs and strong desires have seen their effect. This innate capacity has been called psyche power, or even labeled magic, or witchcraft in the past. Soon, Talbert claimed, we will evolve, and recognize ourSelves as the source. We will begin to learn to control our heritage. The day for a comprehensive, evolutionary, transmutation has arrived, the final quote from the article stated, and we should embrace it.
The words and concepts ran through Paul’s mind all day. He dreaded the thought of having to patronize Debbie at her Fellowship meeting that evening. It struck him strange that one ridiculous article in a tabloid could make so much sense. He had always believed in combining learned, scientific knowledge with spiritual knowledge. Paul felt the more he knew about how the universe functioned, the more he knew about God. That was why he sought knowledge. Seek and you shall find.
Paul also knew positive thoughts and attitude could produce positive results. Talbert's concepts simply proved and magnified what hundreds of self help books had been saying for the past fifty years.
The presumption of a modern evolution appealed to Paul. There were so many things he would like to accomplish; so many people who could use a new world view. He remembered reading most people could not see beyond their own problems. Most people, it seemed, did not care about the nature of the universe, or the fragile state of our planet. The opinions and judgments of most people were centered within their own lives. Yes, most people were trapped within their own little shells. Paul had always lived with the immutable prospect that most people were a dying race. Evolution was our best possibility for salvation.
Buzzz! The sound of the phone pulled Paul from his thoughts. “Paul Adams,” he answered.
“Hi Hon… Can you pick me up in fifteen minutes,” Debbie.
The engineer had not realized how much time had passed. He looked up at the clock hesitating. “You didn’t change your mind, did you Paul? Tim Jenkins will be there tonight. Oh Paul, he’s so filled with the spirit. We’ll see the Lord working tonight. I can promise you that!”
“Well,” Paul replied, “I wouldn’t want to miss that. In fact, I’m leaving right now.”
His office seemed stuffy. The air was filled with the misconceptions of his life. Empty now of thought, he put on his coat, and headed out into the August evening. Lies, his musing began again. It was all a lie; everything. You search for truth, (the truth shall set you free,) and what you find are the socially indoctrinated beliefs. Beliefs bent and twisted by the masses. Idealisms fabricated by self righteous people who prey upon the weak. Stagnated sophistry was developed from same pool of rationalism. The pool runs deep with many coves and pockets. Once in a great while a solitary soul will venture from the cesspool to walk upon the land. Few dare to evolve, to seek, and find, to become what God has meant us to be. Damn it! It is time.
Paul and Debbie arrived at the Christian Foundation Hall. With some trepidation Paul met several enthusiastic people. His impression left him uncomfortable. Despite the fact these people believed what they were saying, it felt forced and phony. It seemed they validated the statement; ignorance is bliss.
It wasn’t long before the crowd was seated, and a fire animated speaker began. All around Paul people were speaking in tongues, vibrant with the energy of praise and belief. Something was happening here. The intensity was profound. Their belief could dissolve the problems of the world. They were ready to let Jesus take control. It was great. It was powerful and moving. Still, it seemed like a game. Red rover, red rover, let Jesus come over.
The power would come and they would capture it for a moment. They might even allow the power to enter their souls. But the human being as it was today could not internalize these gifts from God. We had to evolve.
He observed what appeared to be an aligning of wills... an aligning of ideals and convictions centered upon Jesus. Paul could feel the potential energy radiating in the air, yet he could sense these people did not know what they were doing. It was like watching some ancient tribal ritual.
The article in the tabloid; the physicist, he had explained this. A mass of synchronized thought energy... every mind linking... mixing and multiplying... cauterizing into a single synergistic effect. No wonder they called this the spirit of God. Properly directed this power could, no doubt modify matter waves.
The human psyche has been out of tune. Our physical frequency is not properly aligned. Paul could feel it. He was evolving. The stings of his soul were being tweaked. His soul was being tuned to resonate with God, Jesus, and the universe.
The energy was growing in Paul. He had accepted Jesus as his savior long ago. But this was different. The kind of spiritual energy that was radiating around him felt awkward and incomplete. There was little or no understanding what was happening.
Was this really what God wanted from us? What was happening here was blind faith. It was wonderful and miraculous yet this, this was acceptance without discernment. It was utilizing the power of the universe without awareness. Worshiping a devil might produce the same results and that thought terrified him.
A cloud of colors lifted in the hall. Auras of emotion and energy danced in the room. Paul could see what was happening. These people were blinded by belief, swept away by the power they manifested under the name of Jesus. If he tried to explain this it could break the trance or alter its’ energy. He would be the fool. Nonetheless, he was overwhelmed with his sudden comprehension.
“Debbie,” he grabbed his fiancée. “There is something going on here.”
Debbie was swept into the whole experience. “It’s God moving,” she said.
“Yes, it is the power of God,” Paul said. “He has turned on the lights and lit up the room. The power can be felt, but I don’t see anyone here who has truly connected with it.
How could he explain this intuitive burst? How could he tell her he could see and feel like never before? She wouldn’t understand. At that moment, suddenly Paul knew what he had to do. “Debbie, I have to go. I need to understand this. Something has happened to me.”
“What are you saying Paul,” Debbie asked. “What do you mean you have to go?”
“I have to go, Debbie,” he said again. “I’m not going back to my job. I’m not going back to my life. I think something inside me has changed. A dam has burst. I need to follow this. I think I have evolved.”
“Paul, you need to take this in and rejoice. God is working in you.”
“Yes he is, Debbie. That’s why I have to go.”
“I don’t get it Paul. Are you saying you’re leaving me,” Debbie’s emotions were turning to anger. She whined more from embarrassment than concern. Her love for him had always been more about prestige and money. Paul did not doubt she was being true to the feelings in her reality, but they were not real to her soul. On a deeper more intrinsic level she loved only the idea of a perfect life. And when it did not manifest as her fantasy eyes expected she would be gone.
Debbie had fooled herself for years by following the trends around her. Tomorrow this intensity might be for a rock and roll band, or another guy. A marriage to Debbie was a divorce waiting to happen. It bothered him to hurt her, but he knew she would be over it in a week and he would be the one to blame.
“Debbie,” he held her face, looking into her eyes. “I know you won’t understand this, but I feel I have a higher calling. This is something I have to do. I need to know if we can heal the sick, if we can cure the blind. I need to know if peace and happiness can be felt by all of humanity. I need to know what God wants from me.” Paul smiled, “I believe we can do these things. I believe we can focus our spiritual and mental energy to change the world. And I need to be a part of that.”
Paul’s mind was on fire, alight with the energy which permeated him. Slowly, he took Debbie’s hand. He removed their engagement ring and put it in her palm. “I’m sorry Debbie. I can’t stay here. I’ve come out of the shadows. I need to enter the light.” He kissed her lightly on the cheek, and walked away.
