Now the psychologist must decide whether to betray the anonymity of their members, or allow a serial killer to walk free. Psychobabble is the title of this book, and it does give a serious clue of the story's primary theme. There is a serial killer loose...the killer is targeting pedophiles. This story is about adults who are survivors of...a pedophile.
Dr. Katherine Cook, Ph.D., is the central character. She has plenty of issues herself, but also helps a handful of patients who are dealing with the traumatic results of pedophilia.
Throw in police detectives researching the crime scenes, trying to track the killer down. Throw in a couple more psychologists and a strip club bouncer and you have the setting for a good mystery!
The author has done her homework; the psychological issues in this story are very well researched and credible. These themes aren't just haphazardly used, as in some novels. All of this comes together, as if building a mysterious cloud of fog that has to be entered, explored, and studied before being able to determine the answer so desperately sought.
I enjoyed reading this book. It is well written and kept my interest through to the end. I will admit I didn't identify the killer until near the end of the story. Maybe you will do better than I. There were a few other surprises for me, but I can't reveal those.
Immediately, your name reminded me of Mickey Spillane, the author of the Mike Hammer private eye series, but there is no evidence that yours is a pseudonym.
From your awards and reviews it's obvious that you are a good writer when it comes to crime and mystery. The comment by Jeff seems to reinforce your writing ability. I find it interesting that someone in special education would write in this genre.
An excerpt of your writing would be helpful in determining if readers want to read further. I'm a writer, not a reader, so, although I do comment on these book sales pages, I'm unlikely to read your novel.
