When Ylianor Caldwell collapses in front of Leader Duncan Caldwell while he’s asking her the ritual question that will tie her to Lord Christopher Templeton forever, she knows her pledge did not go through. That Virtus has taken great pains to break her promise to the insufferable demon is obvious, but maybe it’s not as bad as it seems. Truth is—her heart is split in two. Half is for her dark-haired prince, her master of pleasure. Half is for the blond-haired demon, her master of pain. So how to choose between them? And more importantly, how to tell them that her heart and mind are set on getting of both them and that she deserves them after all they put her through?
That’s just the beginning of Book 5 of the Virtus Saga, where nothing is as it seems, not since soul mates Prince Duncan Caldwell and Lord Christopher Templeton share a love that is unrivaled until a fateful knock on Ylianor Meyer’s dilapidated shack changes everything forever. This book picks up right where Book 4, The Leader, Book 3, The Festival, Book 2, The Game, and Book 1, The Sex, leave off and heightens it all—the romance and the ménage, but also the past and the separation. Mostly the unique connection laced with a jealousy and violence that are unknown to their world. Because this isn’t just another erotic dark fantasy series. This is the making of a trio. Of three remarkable characters that have to overcome their uncontrollable lust to face the truth about themselves and their planet, in order to defeat the darkness about to devour them. To be as one whilst three! That’s their real challenge. Because, if they can’t learn to share power and love in equal measures, how will they be able to ensure their world’s survival?

Now completed, Laura Tolomei's erotic dark fantasy series is continuing to receive critical acclaims. The concept of a world free of violence attracts readers. The fiery MM and MMF sex keeps them hooked to every page. The titles say it all. Book 1 The Sex, Book 2 The Game, Book 3 The Festival, Book 4 The Leader, Book 5 The Pledge, Book 6 The Heat, Book 7 The Princess and Book 8 The Lord—they all drip passion and lust woven inside an imaginary frame ruled by magical powers, divided between good and evil and struggling to survive.
The way it all starts and progresses, nothing is as it seems. Soul-mates Prince Duncan Caldwell and Lord Christopher Templeton share a love that is unrivaled, until Duncan takes shelter in Ylianor Meyer's dilapidated shack. Ylianor has always loved Duncan, and while Duncan is attracted to her, she remains a servant—okay to bed, but not acceptable consort material. Unwilling to accept it, Ylianor vows she will do anything, even come head to head with his insufferable lover, to stay at his side.
But there is more going on than either of the three realize. Lord Arthur Fairchild, Leader of the High Council, knows his planet Sendar is doomed unless the predestined Hero steps in and blocks the darkness threatening to take over. And even if one person alone fits the bill, Arthur does the unthinkable—not only does he summon the Hero, but the Hero's consorts as well. Sendar needs these three special people to become fully aware of their powers and learn how to use them together. Sendar needs these three special people to work together above and beyond their personal issues. Sendar needs these three special people to become one whilst being three to make it through the difficult times ahead. If they do not, the Virtus which holds all of Sendar's secrets could destroy them all.
Excerpt
“What happened between you anyway?” Her soft voice broke the fire’s crackling and the rain beating against the windowpanes. “Your lights were…off.”
“We’ve had our…issues.” Prince Caldwell took a deep breath. “I was a fool and got mad at him for telling me how much of one I’d been—”
“We were both angry.” Chris shrugged. “Don’t blame yourself alone.”
“No, you tried to stop me. I just didn’t want to listen.”
“So we had kind of a fight—”
“That must’ve ended with sex,” Ylianor was quick to jump ahead.
“She really knows us too well, doesn’t she?” The blue-gray eyes trapped Duncan’s gaze.
“I guess she does.” The prince chuckled, then swung to Ylianor again. “But then you returned—”
“Yeah, and we still have to figure out if it was the anger, the sex or…” He smiled his most enchanting and heartbreaking smile that lit his face and went straight down to Duncan’s stomach. “Love that brought you back.” Oh, yes, and to his cock, too.
“Whatever it was, it shattered the boundaries between the dimensions and allowed me to come back.” Ylianor drew the only logical conclusion.
“I apologize, lover.” Straightening, Chris knelt in front of Duncan. “I was really vicious and cruel in the chamber.” He looked him in the black eyes. “I shouldn’t have accused you of being insensitive or uncaring. Mostly, I should never have forced you to feel pain.”
“You were right all along, Angel. I was so busy denying my anger, I forgot all other feelings.” He glanced sideways at Ylianor. “I didn’t worry about Virtus taking the princess. All I cared about was that she learned enough to defeat him.” He spun back to Chris. “My own rage trapped me, and I didn’t even realize it. As for the pain…” He sighed. “I have trouble accepting the fact you relish giving it to those willing to play your game.”
“Just one for now.” A rueful smile crossing his lips, Chris winked at Ylianor before returning to focus on the prince.
“One or a hundred doesn’t make a difference.” Duncan’s heart was as heavy as stone. “I see it as non-conventional behavior, so prefer to ignore it, even if it’s an important part of you, and—”
“Hush, lover.” Impulsively, Chris threw his arms around him, then kissed him hard on the mouth. “I’m not particularly proud of that part of me, but it’s my problem. In your way, you approve it, otherwise you’d have never let me go with Robbie, knowing full well what I’d do to him.” Another kiss, this time on the neck, the angel buried his face in the long hair, lingering for a moment before his warm breath reached the prince’s ear. “I love you for trying to accept it in spite of your beliefs.” Pulling back, he brushed Duncan’s face. “These two days, I thought how bad I’ve been. I wanted to force you to acknowledge that part of me, not caring about how you felt about it.” Chris lowered his head in shame. “I don’t want to hang our love on something like this.” Sitting cross-legged on the carpet, the blue-gray eyes stared at him intently. “The gods know I have it bad enough as it is with a pledge turned farce.”
With the corner of an eye, Duncan caught Ylianor inching away, if to flee or to shift positions he would never know. Before she had the chance to make another move, Chris gripped her wrist, their bracelets clashing as he held on tight. “Not so fast.” Tugging her arm, the green and blue-gray rose-shaped stones glittered. “Not until I’m done with you.” Then as though nothing had happened, he focused back on Duncan. “Funny thing, this pledge I was telling you about. My intended mate found a convenient way to get out of it. She made herself scarce at the last moment, kidnapped…” He made a face. “Get this—by some horrible beast. And all just to get away from me.”
“Wasn’t my choice!” Ylianor retorted, shaking her hand to free it from Chris’s grasp. “He kidnapped me for real and—”
“Shut up, sleeping beauty!” With a firmer pull, Chris dragged Ylianor nearer. “I’ve several things to say to you, and your denial isn’t going to spare any of them.” His eyes flashed. “First, damn you for disappearing like that right after my pledge. Second, damn you for beating me at my own goddamn game.” His voice became softer. “Third, damn you ‘cause I’ve missed you so fucking much and couldn’t wait until you returned. And fourth, damn you for closing off your emotions and not allowing me to help you. I’m a fucking healer, remember?” The sarcastic twist was unmistakable. “I’ve seen your black void. I know how terrifying it can be, and you shouldn’t face it alone, however pigheaded and maddeningly stubborn you are to deal with.”
