Chapter 1
Diamondbacks Spring Training
I seemed to be daydreaming out the school window. I could hardly wait for our first practice tonight. It seemed like every class was dragging. Even my teacher seemed to get lost in the noise in my head. Mom always starts our day with a prayer and a devotional. Those stories for some reason seem to stick with me all day. They make sense and I understand the rules. When I’m at school the rules seem to vary with the varying subjects that vary each day and the homework varies a bit it must not vary for a parental signature everyday. So, at least that is sticking with me. Baseball doesn’t vary in my mind for some reason. It is so very clear. I remember very vividly the first time my Dad took us to Wrigley Field. We walked up those stadium stairs, which for my little feet at the time, seemed like two hundred thousand and fifty-three and a half steps. Then we reached are section of seats and we found ourselves looking past some cement walls that looked like a triangle and gave a glimpse of the most beautiful sight I have ever seen to date.
