More than a year after her divorce, Jacqs finds herself tangled in relationships she knows her therapist would not approve of, including their own. Her best friend is marrying a man she hardly knows. Her boss, a temperamental former soap star, has confided in Jacqs her suspicions that her husband (who also happens to be the mayor of San Francisco) is cheating on her. There is also her platonic affair with an older man and her Internet stalking of her ex-husband to keep her busy. Her traditional Mexican-American family is scandalized at the unapologetic way Jacqs lives her life, but it doesn’t worry Jacqs...at least not most of the time.

As the relationships of those closest to her begin to fall apart, Jacqs finds herself picking up the pieces of not only their personal disasters but her own.
