A thrilling adventure for two young boys, whose fun trip to Egypt turns into a dangerously exciting quest to uncover an ancient and mysterious secret, leading them to Britain, King Arthur and the Dark Ages.
Continuing the adventure that began in Egypt a few months prior in The Secret of the Sacred Scarab, cousins Adam and Justin Sinclair are hot on the trail of the second Stone of Power, one of seven ancient stones lost centuries ago. This stone might be embedded in the hilt of a newly discovered sword that archaeologists believe belonged to King Arthur: Excalibur.
However, their long-standing enemy, Dr. Khalid, is following them as they travel to Scotland to investigate an old castle. Little do they know there is another deadly force, the Eaters of Poison, who have their own mission to complete. Time is running out as the confluence of the planets draws closer. Can Justin and Adam find the second Stone of Power and survive? And why did Aunt Isabel send a girl with them?
Join Justin and Adam as they search not only for the second Stone of Power, but also for the Scroll of the Ancients, a mysterious document that holds important clues to the Seven Stones of Power. As their adventure unfolds, they learn many things and face dangers that make even their perils in Egypt look tame. And how annoying for them that their tag-along companion, Kim, seems to have such good ideas when they are stumped.

Dark clouds overshadowed the silvered sky. A lone warrior knelt at the edge of a lake. It was Arthur. The battle was over long ago, and the dead and dying lay strewn on the blood-soaked ground. Only the occasional harsh cawing of ravens wheeling and circling over the battlefield, and the faint groans of the wounded broke the heavy silence. The lake was dark and stagnant. The leafless trees fringing the water reflected upside down on the still surface, their bare branches clawing at the sky like gnarled old fingers.
Adam had seen Arthur in his first dream, riding proudly to engage the enemy, but things were now so different. The fierce warrior was weary, smeared with the blood and filth of combat. His hair was matted, darkened with sweat, and plastered on his forehead. His dragon-crested helmet lay forgotten nearby, the brilliant red plumes tangled and dirty. His muddy cloak was slashed in places. The dragon banner lay fallen at Arthur’s side, torn and stained. Then Arthur reached for something lying on the grass in front of him. Adam had seen the magnificent sword before. Now dirt dulled its brilliance and the blade was snapped in two. Adam felt his heart turn over. Excalibur was broken. No, it couldn’t be true. How was this possible? The sword in the Ashmolean museum wasn’t broken. What did it mean? The figure lifted his head and repeated the words Adam had heard in the first dream. Arthur’s voice was a hoarse whisper, the words slurring from his lips.
“Restore the Stone of Caledfwlch lest the land descend into ravening darkness.”
“But how?” Adam asked. His chest tightened with panic. “I’ll do anything, just please tell me how?” He felt so helpless.
The man turned his face away; his head drooped with exhaustion. Adam took a step forward … and woke up.
