Hoping and coping in a world of hurt. Encouragement for those who suffer.
‘Pain in the Offering’ is destined to encourage those who suffer chronic pain or illness. This is not another self-help manual with quick, easy steps to wellness. Yet, it is sure to lift the spirits of those who have had their fill of them. Each chapter is brief, inspiring and enjoyable. The reader can expect ‘motivational talks’ as opposed to a litany of ‘how to’ lectures. Rather than take a dry clinical approach to the topic of pain, Michaels identifies with the reader by sharing his own struggles. As the subtitle suggest, this book is about hoping and coping in a world of hurt. Because of the whimsical style in which it is presented, Michaels story reaches a diverse audience – even those who don’t suffer chronic issues! Pain in the Offering would best be described as a journey, written in similar fashion to Blue Like Jazz. It is touching, humorous, entertaining and honest. Most importantly, Michaels story will change how people think about physical suffering. It is a resource that will surely be recommended by health professionals and ministers alike.
Excerpt
Suffering is not something any sane person should ever pray for, but it is also a terrible thing to waste. There is much to be gained once we allow God to use pain for His pleasure. He can accomplish unimaginable good in our lives and use us in miraculous ways to bless to others. We deny Him this opportunity when we grumble, complain or waste away like victims.

Nothin but the truth!
This book is especially recommended to anyone suffering from chronic pain, and yet not at all limited to that group of people. Terry has used his personal life experiences to encourage the reader in various situations, challanges and struggles. I laughed and cried my way through the whole book. He's a gifted writer - always leaving me with much to ponder. Terry's books have a way of drawing me in until the VERY LAST PAGE.
Eloquently written
For anyone who suffers chronic pain of any kind: physical, emotional, mental or spiritual; this eloquent volume offers encouragement, hope and strength. For those who love someone suffering chronic pain, it offers deep, personal insight. This is not a book about living in weakness and self-pity. Rather, it is about submitting to the overcoming, triumphant strength of Jesus Christ to gratefully and gracefully live in circumstances beyond one's control. Well done, Pastor Terry!
