One of the most beautiful things about our country is that we are governed by democracy . Many have fought and died for this right and today many continue to fight and die for this right. However on Sunday morning as members file into our houses of worship, they unconsciously enter the world of dictatorship !
We must move from a mindset and operational practices of dictatorship to that of Theocracy . Until we do, we will continue to have weapons of mass destruction that continues to destroy the body of Christ.
26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth… (Genesis 1:26-28 KJV)
The relationship to encourage and build up is that between God and his children. As a by product, one will develop with us (as leader) as well. The one thing we must remember is that Title or position does not define or develop a relationship. In other words, Pastor + Member ≠ a trust relationship. It is not an automatic thing. Trust is developed through the journey! It is created in the midst of the ups and downs, the good and the bad.
Leaders, we cannot order it, demand it or bully it into existence! Doing so is what has created the pains of spiritual abuse. Like any other relationship, that between pastor and member must be developed and nurtured.

This book goes into the many facets of spiritual abuse as well as a definition of what it entails. The leaders as well as members are affected by this subject matter because it affects the true core of the person, the spirit. The author also describes herself going through spiritual abuse, and provides scripture as well as a myriad of resources on the subject of how to be healed from this type of abuse. I recommended this book for anyone who is a leader of a church as well as a member. Either way, they will at least benefit in knowledge or in relation to this subject matter. Well done!

Wow! This book really breaks down the aspects of Spiritual Abuse. It addresses very real issues and situations that are playing out everyday in church! I found myself being able to relate to much of what was written.
The depth that the author takes the subject matter to is amazing. The book is deep, but understandable at the same time.
