Imago Legacy had me racing through the pages to keep up with the action, and
then re-reading passages describing the Kagai Warrior philosopy and teachings. Words worth contemplating. I liked the warrior training, the secret village, the battles and traps, the issue of racism (the elves are good enough to fight with and heal you for hundreds of years but not be on your government?),
Joval's development, betrayal...the story was quite the buffet.
How does it compare to the other books? It's not the same. I don't know
how you manage to write a different book each time. This one was definitely
more of a thinker. I'd re-read things and think about them for a while before going on. Did I like the book? Yes!

Legacy takes us back in time to when Dahlon Treeborn leads the dark Elves to Orien. They seek to settle but meet up with the Kagai Warriors and become involved in war against the Imperial Army. Utilizing the Elves’ healing power and the Warriors’ shrewd military expertise, they join forces against increasing opposition.
The combat and battle scenes are excellent. Regarding the nature of war, when Valtar Briarwood asks Joval Stonecroft about the glory of victory, he responds, “It was not a dream. It was a nightmare…There was nothing glorious about the war… The enemy did have a face.” How real can you get in a fantasy story? L.T. Suzuki succeeds in showing Joval’s compassion in times of war.
This novel is another link in the chain of a continuing saga. The characters are unique and believable. The Kagai teachings expressed in this novel are genuine and worthy. The ending was excellent as I found myself coming full circle after reading the other books.

Imago Legacy shows us the true meaning of love lost. Dahlon works hard for his people to create a home in a new land despite having to join forces to fight to keep it. It had me. I was forgiving him for all his wretchedness in previous books, but true to form, just when it couldn’t possibly be so, it was. The author brought out the man we all knew and hated for good reason. There is the usual humour throughout the book mixed with sadness, sentiment and plenty of sacrifice.
Letting us in on some of the secrets, and surrounding others with mystery, the story evolves through many eras, battles and friendships such as Joval and Valtar’s childhood and the kinship that evolved. It was another fabulous book that I did not want to see end! Thank you!
